Got bored, grabbed a camera, etc. etc.
These are just the blades I had on hand in the car; not my entire outdoors collection. No gear pics, sorry: it's just cutting implements.

Okapi 16" machete, Victorinox Rucksack, Frosts' Craftsman (Mora). That thingy in the lower left corner is a yellow match safe with sandpaper glued to the side...

Vic. Rucksack in Victorinox nylon sheath, Opinel No. 9, Opinel No. 10, Grohmann #1, Victorinox Huntsman in black with Victorinox black leather sheath, Frosts' Craftsman (Mora) in black leather sheath, Okapi 907/E...

Same photo, different angle. The Rucksack is wearing a green-and-orange box-stitched lanyard with a firesteel and LED attached. The Okapi has a chain link weave lanyard made from black shoestring, the Mora has a pink-and-orange box-stitched lanyard, and the Huntsman has a simple black box-stitched lanyard. The Opinels are wearing orange nylon with an elastic core, so they're stretchable (I got them from a kid's toy wrestling ring)...

Nice photos, nice knives
What do you think of the DH Russell Canadian Belt Knife? Those keep catching my eye, but just can't seem to pull the trigger.

I have no experience with the D. H. Russel knives. I think the only difference between D. H. Russel and Grohmann is that Russel uses carbon steel while the Grohmanns are stasinless, but I could be wrong. Every Canadian Belt Knife marked "DH Russel" that I've seen has been carbon steel, while all of the "Canada" marked knives from Grohmann have all been stainless.

Anyway, the Grohmann #1 pictured works beautifully, and it sure looks nice too. Definitely worth the money

Nice! I carry the same Okapi in my truck. They make a nice machete, after I smoothed out the handle, and sharpened her up.

theonew: Cool, I thought they were all carbon :o That sure shut me up LOL.

All of those knives pictures will take an edge really nicely and hold it well for their prices (the most expensive thing in there is the Grohmann at $50).

good looking little collection there. that's what you had in the car? ;)

what grit sandpaper did you put on the matchsafe? i've tried a bunch of them, and none of them seem to work well...

i lived in a Kentucky town(fort thomas) right across the river from Cincinnati for my whole life up until i moved to oklahoma about 18 months ago. i get back to the area a few times every year. so, are you a goldstar or a skyline guy?

by the way, if you are ever looking for an awsome knife store, head across the river to monmouth street in newport. the store is called Cecil and Clark knives. oddly enough, that is one of the biggest things i miss about the area.

siguy; I superglued some 800-grit sandpaper inside three of the grooves. It works really nicely on strike-anywhere matches. You can't use it with normal matches though since they rely on a chemical reaction between the sulfur in the match-heads and the ??? oxide (I used to know) in the striking surface.

BarberFobic1992; I'm a Skyline guy. I go to Clark Knives all the time; I've actually met a few forum members (offsetlover and J_Curd) there for a Kershaw meet. Kendal is the man!

i am a skyline guy too, so we can still talk to each other :D. and yes, kendal in definatly the man. i dont even want to think about how much money i have spent there.

It would be a real bummer if some scumbag broke in and stole them all.

Yeah, it would suck, but they're all (except for the Grohmann) easily replacable and cheap... The Mora and the Opinels were around $10 each with one $4 sheath; the Vic. Huntsman was about $25 with a $5 sheath, the Vic. Rucksack was $28 with a $5 sheath; the Okapi machete was a gift with a $5 sheath; the Okapi 907/E was around $7; even the Grohmann at $50 is easily found, but the one pictured is a custom. So I'm looking at a total loss of around $160 in knives - the window that they'd have to break to get to them would cost me more than that. It's nice having "cheap" knives that work :D

Nice kit!

You can get the Russell Grohmans in stainless or carbon.
But you have to special order the carbon version.
You can special order flatgrind versions of their knives too.

That Okapi machete looks nice!
Where did you get it?

I think we should all start bugging Ragweed forge to start selling machetes!
:D
