Ellis Street Pub in Atl hosts an iron-pour night around the first or second week of each month. A local iron works brings in a small smelter and scrap iron--usually stuff like old radiators they demolish on site for the pub-patrons' amusement. Patrons are then invited to make scratch molds which the iron's obviously poured, and the patron leaves with a sweet souvenir.
Edit: Granted though-- some of us will appreciate just seeing work hot metal for our amusement.

I've written the owners to see if they'd be willing to hold off until one of the nights Blade is in town, explaining that some of us Hammerheads enjoy this sort of thing. I'd already reckoned that the first night would probably reserved from some sort of open meet & greet for the conference, if not only friends enjoying a chance to see other, and suggested to the bar owners either the night of June 9th or 10th.

I've not been to a pour, but have several friends in Atl that frequently go just for the monthly event.
Anyone care to come along?

Sorry, sir, I made a noted change to avoid the confusion and apologize for the mistake. And if Sam comes, I promise to make sure he doesn't put pennies in the mold.

If you haven't seen an iron pour they are fun. I've helped crew a few of them. Working the furnace in an Alabama summer is really %(^&$ hot!Remember if you use any letters or numbers in your mold they need to be carved in reverse.
