Some preheat treatment questions

I hand sanded my blade to about 400 grit, but left the fishhooks in the grain. Should I go back and sand those out?

Next made a dumb new maker move and over worked the blade near the plunge line. it is a bit hollow when compared to the area next to it, to add to the frustration, the plunge lines still look crappy. How likely is the blade to warp from that? Is there anyway to fix it? Blade is 1/8 inch D2. heat treat will be done by Texas knife supply.

Thanks!

You will need to do some sanding when you get it back so I would let the fishhooks go, I typically step back one grit (320) after heattreat, and they go back up the grits.

TX does a very good job of straightening and I don't see this to be an issue. Better get it into the mail, it must be there Monday evening or wait another week.

Should I go back and sand those out?

Yes. It's not going to get any easier after it's hardened and tempered. Do it right the first time. D2 will only require minimal clean-up after HT; sand off the tempering oxides and sharpen it up.

sand them out.
The finer the gritt the easier and faster it goes.
240-400-600(800/1000)
Finishing with the final gritt take fresh, sharp paper, place it at the ricasso and move it in one move to the point.
Lift, replace at the ricasso and repeat. That should give a nice finish
