Some quick and easy file knives.

so i decided to post a short review of the wharncliffe from post #28.
a summary of my dealings with lx_emergency can be found here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...mergency-great-seller-and-all-around-nice-guy!!!

the knife arrived like this in a cushioned envelope:

strange, i didn't order a sheath... alexander was so nice as to include one!

some pics:

well... what can i say... i still think it is absolutely gorgeous, the grip has a really nice finish to it and the edges are all well rounded. my wife said "it smells"... well... it smells like steel babe! the grind is not 100% flat along the complete edge (you can see this when putting the blade down at a table/glass/metal)... however, it is SHARP! i didn't think a "simple" file knife would be as sharp as this ... wow! alexander put a really nice edge on this and i am really fascinated by it.

i am also kinda curious on how the knife will perform. i have no previous experience with this kind of knife, it is intended as user/ archery knife. maybe i will add a paracord wrap to the handle, so far it feels really great though.

Yeah, the edge ended up getting the slightest hint of a recurve. Sorry about that. Quick and easy remember ;-)

Feedback I've gotten back from users on this steel so far had been very good. I'm looking forward to hearing yours.

Here is a quick picture of the handle wrap I made:

Sorry for the crappie quality, lighting in our office sucks.
I am kind of torn between wrap or no wrap. The wrap gives it a good feel in the hand and sort of forms a choil with the finger guard. However I love the sleek lines and the file finish without the wrap.
As for the recurve, really didn't want it to come across as complaining or to dismiss your craftsmanship Alex, sorry. It is an absolutely great knife for a very fair price. I am also curious as to how the steel holds up. Too bad it has been raining lately, so no archery. (yes, I am a nice weather archer.)

Don't worry I don't mind. You spotted a flaw and called it out. That is just fine.

The wrap is interesting. Never saw one like that. It's pretty cool.

don't worry, i still love the knife ;)

it's just a simple 3x5 turks head front and end and i actually don't know what the middle one is called... saw it somewhere on the internet... neat thing is that you only need one strand looping back trough itself.
hope this helps:

left side under my thumb is the starting point, then make a loop, right side goes right around the back and through the loop, then tighten.
