Lately I've been spending some time getting acquainted with the new camera every chance I get. I've been messing around with it in different lightings and using different subjects.

I took some shots down at the art district the other night, these are all some pretty long exposures.

Then this morning I played around with a belt grinder and an end mill and modified the pry bar on one of my HESTs a bit. I got a little more carried away than I meant to but...it works like I wanted it to now.

I can now use the HEST to pry my frozen-shut truck door open this winter using only one hand if needs be. Before the wedge shape of the pry bar just slid out if I didn't hold it in place and the movement scratched the paint. The door is actually closed and locked so I didn't pry it far...just enough to see that I could.

So now this is most of my minimal "urban-tooling" while walking around shooting photos in town at night now.

After that I headed down to Coolidge Park to wander around a bit.

So far I'm really liking the new camera :)

Wow! great pics - I didn't realize that you were shooting in the US until the end - it looked like a cross between Switzerland and Holland. Would you mind telling me where you the US these shots came from?

Nice pics. Great to see you're enjoying that Nikon. I find it so much fun to see what kind of pictures I can get with mine!

When you shoot at night, turn your ISO down to 100 and use a tripod (you probably already were). It will get rid of all the noise in the night pictures.

I could tell it was a Nikon from the second picture.
I bought a D60 in Dec. '08, and have since upgraded to a D90. Just yesterday I picked up the 18-200 lense and sold my 18-55 to a buddy. I've also got the 35mm 1.8, the 70-300 VR, a Lensbaby Muse, a couple flashes, few tripods, and other bits and pieces. LOVING IT!

Just out of curosity, do you sell your photos for a living?
Thats some awesome shots there!
Great camera yeh, but a great camera without an eye for things is like a great rifle in the hands of someone that cant hold on target.

Cool pics. And a really great mod on the HEST. How much time did it take you to make that mod?

NICE !!!

Is that the sheath that comes standard with the HEST? as I'm ordering one but it doesn't show details of the sheath.. I want to carry it on belt..

Your mod on the Hest makes it much more appealing. To me anyway. Awesome pics. You are a natural.

Pics of the rabbit make me want to go hunting. Not to long now

Good pics as always bro

I was thinking the very same thing. They sure are beautiful creatures and just as tasty over an open fire after a killing frost.

Absolutely stunning pictures. :D

Wow!

I've always loved your photo's, and now they're even more outstanding.

A great eye for natural detail and great camera work.

Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys, I really do appreciate all the compliments, and I am really glad that you enjoyed the photos.

Chattanooga, S.E. Tennessee.

Great to see you're enjoying that Nikon.

Oh yeah! Enjoying it tremendously

Yes, using a tripod, but really need to get a remote too. I've been playing with it just to see what all it can do, taking the settings to their extremes in varying combinations. Sometimes...I like a little bit of noise :)

So what gave it away ?

Thank you for your compliments.

Some of them yes, I'm wanting to do more.

Thanks man.

Didn't actually time myself, but it took less than an hour and was talking some in between...

Yep, factory HEST sheath with an ESEE-3 belt/boot clip. I use it for belt carry and then the DT sheath Marion made is for the pack.

Your mod on the Hest makes it much more appealing. To me anyway.

I'm also more comfortable with it in reverse-edge techniques now.

Your HESTs rear end looks like a dobermans tail :D

Yep..it's had a tail reduction....

Were you using the HDR setting? They look too good for a simply long exposure.

I really like the first and third ones. Very nice!
