I havent posted many blades lately, partly because I tend to get alot of knives
, and partly because Ive been very busy at work and home lately.
Well, here are 3 I got recently.
Im gonna spit this up into posts, starting with the Laconico Bowie.
I have never owned a bowie. Not because of ill feelings about them, jus never have. I have a thing with Rambo type knives. I love em. Reminds me of being a kid, watching that flick, and playin "Rambo" outside as a boy. I wanted something to kind o fill that role in my collection, but with a degree of utility and usefullness. I saw this one from Ray, and it reminded me of that Ramboflavor, without the sawback and hollow handle. I love Rays knives. He is a wonderfull maker, and I am a HUGE fan of his work. So, I ordered me up one. The wait was over and I recieved it. First thing I noticed was the simple beauty, and ballance of this knife. Its 6in 3/16 O1 blade is very agile, and very sharp. The handle is a coffin style, with the micarta encasing the tang which protrudes out the butt for hamering etc.. The blade is just wonderfull. The squareness of the "choil" makes a perfect striker for a ferro rod.
Ray was nice enough to do me a leather sheath for this one, and I have to say thatthis is some of the best leather I hve ever seen. Its very robust, evenly dyed, and the stitching is straight and well done. Edges of the sheath are finished square, alot of attention to detail. Some sheaths of this type have the retention strap cross across the edge side of the blade, makin it prone to being cut when sheathed/unsheathed. Ray put it on the opposite
side eliminating this common problem. It compliments the knife perfectly, and I love everything about this one.
Next up, the Gossman.......
