Some recent flea-market finds

That 3 triangle tang stamp looks like what the British Ministry of Transport used as a logo. Perhaps a contract knife? Certainly tasted the sharpener(grinding wheel...)!

Thanks for that Will. As I say, I think I have another knife with the same logo, I'll have to search it out. Strange that there's no other marks on it. Not much of a knife I'm afraid.

Actually, I've never seen a knife sharpened almost down to the nick! Take some doing to open that one soon...

Mind you, good to see a knife that's been used.

Regards, Will

Must be good steel in that one for its former owner to keep on using it the way he did. That or he was a really cheap bugger. :D

I thought it might have been ground to use as a pipe tool possibly, but it could just be a case of somebody getting carried away with the grinder :)

Having a closer look at it, it may even be the original blade shape, like an awl or pipe poker! Real cheaply made knife.

I'm thinking it was originally a wharncliffe, although I could see it being an awl or the like. Either way, it looks like the owner really favoured that blade over time while hardly ever using, or at least sharpening, the other blade. Pretty cool to see the habits and preferences of someone from long ago.

I think I've cleared out the local shops of any pieces in good condition. I bought a book at a knife show on pocket knife repair. I think I am going to try my hand at knife repair. Bob Picklesimer has done a nice job restoring some gun show and flea market salvage buys!

Let me know if you want any pieces to practice on Dan! :D
