Some recent pickups....S&M..Queen and Case

All very nice:thumbup:! Eight dot Case:eek:, wow! As mentioned that is very nice looking stag on the S&M SB!!

All very nice. Thanks. The case looks to be in excellent condition. Whittlers are one of my favorite patterns. They are all keepers. Nice stag.

Very nice MJ, I really like that Case.
As for your S&M..... MMVII means 2007. Is it marked 70 as well?

well...a knowledgeable member here corrected me privately on this very thing. so thanks mike for making me look like a ding bat publicly. come on man....i thought we were friends. :p

MMVII does equal 2007. The knife itself is not serialized. 70 is the pattern number.

You're very welcome. It's the least I could do.
Want to buy an antique MMVIII Queen Trapper?

I kid. :)

You made a nice haul with that lot though.

Nice looking knives you got there morrow_98. They are much better in person than in the pics, right?

Yes they sure they are. I still can't believe you let a couple of these walk away but I'm certainly not complaining. They have a good home.

There was a wide variation of coloring on the earlier red bones.
Some I have are very red while some were so dark they almost look black with subtle hints of red usually on the ends.

When I first read this, I thought you were discussing Cocobolo!

I have Cocobolo from blond with red and black grain, to deep red to a dark brown that is almost black.

A lovely wood that changes from knife to knife, but Queen well matches the scales on each knife.

I am still going to grab one of those sod busters. Work got busy on me this last week. I know what you mean about 1970's dot Case bone patterns. I have 3 whittlers, and the bone dye is irregular and I love the light colors flecks in the scales. Case slipjoints make me happy too, it chases the blues away.
