I really like the looks of that Robeson Jack.

:) fewpop,How are you? I never did answer you,on the Robeson.I do not know what year knife it is.The pictures ,are compliments of LarryM , and a real big Thanks to him, also, for hooking me up,with some great knives in my collection.

Nice Parker/Frost/Schrade! Nicely jigged and dyed bone; you've got a good eye, I've noticed!!

Is that an old Robeson, or a recent Queen-made one, Vince?
Stellar piece!!!

CC,That's a Queen repro. The walk and talk on that one, well,I've never had another slip quite like it.The snap, coming out of the half stop position, when opening it,it is like it is spring loaded.Very well made, for sure. Thanks for the compliments,I've had some help.

Those are real nice Vince.....a great addition to a collection. Congratulations.

Vince, the Robeson Jack was from the run Queen made in 1999. From what I understand the main blade on all the models made in 1999 used ATS34 steel. Larry

Nice stuff, Vince! I like that Loveless design City Knife and have since the first time I saw/read of one. They are all sweet looking blades.

Gee, I don't know where you would ever get the idea any of us would like to see pictures of knives. :D

Thanks for the replies, and glad you all are enjoying the viewing. If anyone would like to take over, and post pictures of thier "Recent Slips",be my guest.

Anyone know the name of the italian company that made the city knife for lonewolf? You can see its mark on the backside of the blade. Kind of a tree with a few stars around it. I'd love to see more of their work. My city knife shows fine hand craftmanship.

By the way, it's an italian made but american design. It's a testiment to loveless capabilities that he can make something "new" in the slipjoint world. In addition, right now I think it's the only production slipjoint with integral bolsters.

I have looked at VCM3's pictures for several days now trying to pick my favorite. I have not been able to pick just one. Good stuff, Vince, good stuf.

I thought it was Fox, the same folks who make the Hossom Retribution series.

Okay, twist my arm. ;)

I don't have this yet, but I recently bought the Northwoods Scagel #8 in the series. They call it an English Jack pattern, and I think it's close to 5" closed. I agonized over whether to get the sambar stag or the Rogers bone, as they're the same price. I went with the Rogers bone, since I have #3 in stag, plus there were only 25 made, plus I just really like the way it looks. :p

Here's a picture from the website, which is vintageknives.com:

Longbeachguy,

Tell me about the quality of the scagels, I am a hairs breathe away from purchasing #6 and #8 and wanted to know a little more about them from someone who has experience with them.

Thanks,

Sunburst

Brownshoe - AG Russell would know exactly wich Italian Company's mark that is.
Longbeachguy - I like the bone Scagel better! Nice choice
While we got the thread goin' again, here are 2,not so recent, but still somewhat recent. The Bulldog is a celluloid type material,a pretty one.The Queen teardrop,is one of my users, the lock is a nice feature as a back up,but it snaps hard anyhow.

Well, all I have to go on is the one that I have, which is the 3rd release. Now I don't own any "custom" knives per se, so my frame of reference is limited. However, having said that I'd say this is the most perfect knife I own, in terms of beauty, fit and finish, design, etc. I'd say it edges out my Dan Burke Rancher, which is another quasi custom made by Queen.

I have strong reason to believe that my experience is pretty common, because before I bought my #3, I was looking for the same kind of feedback that you are, and several people on this and another board recommended the Scagel in the highest terms, and no one said anything against it.

So, based on all this, my personal opinion is that these Northwoods Scagels are an amazing deal at around $200, expecially considering that the older issues have already increased considerably in price.

Regards,

Jim

Nice Scagels...and I like the Queen Cobo teardrop.

Here's a Winchester....Queen made...Blue Grass issue Stag canoe I picked up a spell ago. The photo is from the eBay buy...I haven't had time to properly photograph it yet :
