I haven't been real active here lately because of my workload at both jobs so here are some pieces I have made lately.

These three are all 1095 with an antique finish and 2 have mammoth ivory scales with the middle one being walrus ivory, the second two feature hand forged and heat treated pocket clips and are designed to be clipped and carried in the right side pants pocket. All three are in Thailand and the pics were taken by the new owners.

This one is 8" of 1095 and nickle damascus with foldformed copper scales that were fused with sterling silver and features 2 garnets set from the back on each side. The sheath has a foldfomed copper panel with a mokume insert and a bezel set garnet and also has a forged pocket clip and Scott Roush did the honors on the photos.
I entered this one in the annual Lewton Brain Fold Forming competition and was honored to have been selected Juror's Choice out of hundreds of entries and it can be seen in this video. This piece now resides in Indonesia.

Thanks Steve! It was actually more of a recognition than award but hey, I made some very talented and recognized artists look at my work!!Foldforming is a very satisfying art form indeed.I make and sell a lot of cuffs that people really like, here are pics of one Scott shot for me that was also entered in the competition.

Absolutely Steve, I would love to see them! Here are a couple more cuffs Scott shot for me a while back.

John, the very first knife with the ivory handle, tell me about the sheath, it has an iridescence! How did you achieve that effect?

Thanks Tad!Steve it is basically luck of the draw as to the way rawhide dyes. You can manipulate the results wit different color dyes but I use the same color dye on each sheath and the skin dictates how it wants to be colored, if that makes sense to you.

John, I think back several years ago when we first met each other at the Blade show in Atlanta. At that time you were in awe of Karen Shook's work with raw hide, and a couple of other period makers that I don't remember.

Fast forward to today and look at you now. WOW!

You are now that person that the new guys (and girls) seek to emulate.
