Some serious scores at REI today.

That has a garage sale at REI today. I scored a REI T2 Quarter Dome for 80 dollars: http://www.rei.com/product/761893

I also scored a REI Halo +40 Sleeping bag for 9 dollars: http://www.rei.com/product/778157

The bag "would not stay closed and was hard to zip - zipper was broken". I used a flat blade screw driver and pair of pliers and had a new bag on my hands in minutes.

The tend had a grommeted piece missing from the tent fly. It was ripped on the inside of the fly - but on an inside portion. I quickly fabricated a new nylon portion by cannibalizing a peice of the stuff stack straps (extra length) and a new grommet. A little later I sewed in the new piece - used seam sealer on the patch - and VIOLA - I had a new tent....


then I found the original grommeted piece in the bottom of the damned bag! ;)

Oh well - My fix is way cooler!

So - new gear - for under a 100 dollars - and it could have cost me over 500. Not bad!

I either wish they didn't have an REI in AZ or they would open one in Tucson. As it is, I either have to drive 3 hours to Phoenix or pay tax plus shipping to have it sent to my house.

I got my coupon but my dividend was zero. I guess everything I bought last year was on sale. :p

I live near the "flagship" store in Seattle and head straight for the garage sale area in the basement when I go. Last trip netted me a $50 pair of pants for $7 that were supposedly stained. I went over them several times I and couldn't find anything-- took 'em home, washed them and checked again-- they look like new.

I also got an $85 backpack for $20 that was returned because the capacity was too low. It had a little dirt on it that was cleaned up with a quick rinse. Gotta love a bargain on gear :D

I went to last months and scored a brand new T3 tent for $99. It was returned because it didn't meet customers needs, no apparent problems. I even set it up in the store and checked it all out.

Same here. I also have a gift card that I'm going to use with the dividends and coupon to buy this:

Its a multifuel stove. After all is said it done I'm probably only going to be paying $40 or less for it.
 
So I went to REI today to find the stove in my above post.

Turns out they only had a display model in stock. They found the sack and other items to go with it, but no box. The display model had never been lit. Since they couldn't find the box, I got 10% off. This also went with the 20% coupon. SCORE! 30%off!!

149.95 - 44.?? - 45 in dividends - 40 gift card = $27.19!

How freaking sweet was that??

What happens is somebody needs a tent for the weekend so they go buy one. When the weekend is over, they take it back. I also got a really good deal on a tent because of that.

I hate that people do that - but I love the fact that I can score from it. A T3 for 99 bucks is a SMOKIN' deal. I got mine on sale and with my 10% discount - I think I still paid 150.

I set mine up in the store as well - could see where the small problem was (you could tell they grabbed this tab and tried to stretch the tent fly and tore the fabric - on the inside) and snatched it up.

The store closest to me here in Detroit is having theirs early next month, hopefully I'll be able to make it

Asolos for $40, yes please! Arcteryx for $50? why not! 5 person tent for $20 and 2 minutes worth of stitching, sign me up! Keens and chacos and even my ugly yet o so comfy crocs, 6 bucks each!

I picked up a Mountain Hardware Exsposure II -4 season parka and REI tonight. It was on clearance for $138 from $200.... used my $55 dividend and walked out with an awsome parka for $83 :D

Going back tomorrow to buy a sling daypack for 20% off.

So here in the triangle, all three REIs (with a 15 mile radius) each, all have their sales in 2 weekends, so one weekend two of them have a sale, one saturday, one sunday, and then the other has one the next weekend.

I'll be gone for both those weekends. One, backpacking, 2, to a blacksmithing class (cool!)

Thank god. The knife sale is coming up and I remember what a month like that did to my wallet. If I wasn't there at the sale it didn't happeN!
 
I went back and found a north face coat and got that 20% off. I'm set for spring weather.
