Would love to see that legendary Boar sheath and the DSSF sheath would be simply fantastic!

Rob is the one with good pics before the costume department for the movie went to town with 40 grit sandpaper on the Boar sheath.

Andy still should have the DSSF sheath & pics of it, or be able to take new ones of it.

Sorry, being held hostage by technology that became way too expensive to bother...

Andy, yours has hide from the sow.
The hair on boar hide was too long to use for such a small sheath.

TBH, I like both looks, but loathe and abhor faux weathering. It offends my strong belief in the importance of authenticity.
That said, cool rig and love dat hair!!!

Gets me to thinking that this design would be perfect in a smaller version for my much-loved (and used daily) Pork Shanks! The straight blade, handle, and overall profile of the DSSF calls out for a design like this, and the P-Shank is kinda like a medium/small DSSF, IMHO.
Think that would work well, Olaf?

Most excellent - inference sounds like you are going to give that a try??? If I have that right, and I do so hope I have that right, then I am very excited to see the results. I think the design in "junior form" looks just perfect for the Shank!

Started with a decades-old leather bias, but well designed and quality crafted Kydex has long won me over as a strong option. The reality is that they both have their strong suits. One is not better than the other; rather, each excel at different applications (with of course some overlap). So I have arrived at the economically painful but inevitable conclusion that I strongly prefer having both a great Kydex and a quality leather sheath for my true users.

I carry and use my P-Shanks a lot, especially in town, but also in the field. David crafted me lovely Kydex sheaths for both of my Shanks, so I am set for Kydex, but sadly I have no leather suits for 'em.

So yes, if you go ahead with that experiment, Elof, and she turns out as nicely as I expect, I bet I will be quite happy to take it off of your hands $ (or another of course if she is to be yours or another's)!

(If you care for a humble suggestion (?) - black would be the perfect color for a prototype (given that it goes so well with both black Micarta and Ivory G10 and all!).)
