Was out this afternoon doing some preseason scouting and found some cool tracks, thought I would share. Im thinking BOBCAT for the tracks, and possibly persimmon seeds in the scat. These tracks are from Southern MS, if im wrong or way off base let me know.

track 1

those are not Cat tracks 'OlBud, The tracks in the pick show the critters claws, cat tracks show no claws, only the pads ;) & I don't think that BobCats eat fruit :D

It's kinda hard from looking at your pics but I'm thinking that they might be Badger tracks !!! This would fit with the scat as well !!!!!

Thanks for showing them !

not near water, i should of put a quarter down for size reference, they were fairly small a little bigger than a quarter. thanks for looking

I think I see a fifth toe (left side) on the second track making 5 toes front and back. No webbing so it is not an otter or mink. Looks like a badger but to small. If it is a striped skunk, it would be a small one. Could be a weasel, but my guess is a spotted skunk.

I agree with the possibility of skunk. It does look like the fore prints of a Raccoon as well, but with the absence of hind prints I find it unlikely.

I would love to learn more about tracking and scat ID. I have been interested ever since as a child I brought home these nifty perfectly round marbles I found in the bush that turned out to be rabbit turds.:D

It isn't bobcat. Both the nail break on the tracks and the seeds in the scat argue against it.

The tracks do looks somewhat weaselish (weasely? weasular?) but few of the weasel tribe (including skunks) around here (new england) spend a lot of time eating fruit. Those scratches are interesting. I'm trying to figure out why the animal would do that.

Where were the tracks and scratches in relation to the scat?

all of this, tracks, scratches and scat was within about 25 yards of each other on a sand gravel type road bed. I think skunk is more likely as well, makes sense.
