Mark I have worked with ivory a little bit over the years and in answer to your question.Most Elephant ivory has Schreger lines over 100 % of a angle and most Mammoth ivory Schreger lines has less than 100 %. Also you can tell by color.Most Mammoth is a creamish brown while most Elephant will be more of a white in color.
