Some very sad news.............

I think it's safe to say that any maker who handled one of Phils flippers was impressed and inspired. A true craftsman. RIP.

Ahh, I just stumbled across this. How sad. I met Phil when I was still living in the Seattle area. We met at a local knife club in Redmond just as I was getting interested in working on knives, must have been 1978 or so. He and Twig(sorry I can't remember his name) are the ones I remember. Both their work stood out in my opinion and I wrangled blades from both of them. My son has a dagger with blade by Phil.

I never saw Phil again after I moved East(1980), but his wry humor, craftsmanship and intelligence are fresh in my mind.

^^^ Jim, thanks for taking the time to join us and describe your own personal memories. Nicely put.
