I feel like as a knife enthusiast I have an obligation to myself to have a Sebenza in the collection. I dont question that it's a very well built knife and has beautiful aesthetics. But for that hefty price tag what am I really getting that I dont already have in my other knives? I have titanium framelocks and plenty of S35VN. Is it the knife itself as a whole that warrants such a price or is it the name engraved on it?

I find the Sebenza to have excellent build quality. They come up used from time to time at a savings on the for sale thread, but either way I vote yes go for it.

A very well built knife to tight tolerances, easy to maintain, good warranty backup(and refurbishing) and good carry. It likely won't cut any better than something you have and it certainly won't take out the garbage. What it offers I certainly find worth the money, but you don't have to own one. You might try one-buy off the exchange at a reasonable price and you should be able to get out of it for about the same if you decide to.

All very true. I've had many Sebbies and don't regret a one...

I consider myself under no such obligation. It’s not the price point that dissuades me, I have several knives in that price range. They just don’t appeal to me, so I buy what does. I never find myself wishing I had a Sebenza in my pocket instead of a Koenig Arius. YMMV.

Just sold a rifle today that I wasn't using, and be damned if I wasn't looking these up online lol.

I love the look of them I just cannot have a reason to spend that much on a knife.

For me the spydercos and such I buy are expensive enough and handle all my cutting jobs great.

A knife is a tool at the end of the day and there is no way in hell I would spend $500 on a hammer

I assume then that all your firearms are either high quality Raven arms or bryco?

Some valid points for both ends of the argument. I think if I do pull the trigger, like some have suggested, its gunna have to be second hand here for a good price. I just dont see without handling one how it can be worth $400. I really want just a regular drop point 21 not sure of large or small yet. I'm not a paid member so I'm not sure I can use the buy/sell forum or not.

Also, my apologies. I didnt realize there were manufacturer specific forums until now. Please move if it's an issue.

How about a chisel ?
This chisel cost more than that ten years ago. It is a hand made (but not custom) Temple Builder's Paring Chisel. High end Blue Paper Steel hardness ~ 64 HRC. but no moving parts. No pivot, no spring or lock . . .
It cut the three inch dove tail joints in this all hand cut cabinet maker's bench.

To be real it is Man Jewelry, I mean look at that Ink Pattern folded steel cladding.
The CRK 21 is Man jewelry that one can carry in one's pocket.

No regrets on either of these :

Sebenzas are great, but like The Aflac Duck The Aflac Duck said, you're not going to get any more function out of the thing
that you couldn't get with a much cheaper knife. Generally, people buy the Sebenza or any CRK as more of a luxury item.
They handle and operate really smooth and they're built to exacting standards. It's a refined product for sure!

I've had plenty of non-knife people comment on how good my CRKs look, but those same people commented on Spydercos being the sharpest and most comfortable knife they've ever used.
If I was to talk you out of one, I'd say that you're going to be really disappointed when you find out you're paying for super tight tolerances and curb appeal that you arguably don't need, you won't notice any increase in actual function, CRKs just look and feel really good, they don't necessarily cut any better.

You're in the wrong place to be talked out of a Chris Reeve Knife. :D

Umnamzaan is quite unique with the combination of stop pin/thumbstud, O-rings on them, washer construction, and the detent ball lock face. Totally worth it in my opinion.

I know....what was I thinking? And my dad has been an aerospace machinist for 40+ years so I can surely appreciate the tolerances and craftsmanship involved in it. But then again I happen to be one of those people that find the Para 2 to be the perfect EDC for me. I'm afraid I'll pay $300+ for a safe queen.

I use my CRKs like a sports car. When I get tired of the same old everyday stuff I always carry, I take one of my CRKs out for a spin! :)

Sorry, cant help you out here. I love and use all my sebbies!! :D
