Somebody talk me out of a Sebenza

Just buy the $15 Sebenza-inspired Sanrenmu and be done with it if you like the style so much. Just don't tell the morality inquisition of this forum lol.
If you do that, you are missing out on half of what makes a CRK Sebenza so great. With the Sanrenmu you get the simple design of the Sebenza but you don't get the same standard of workmanship or customer service. That is what you are paying for with CRK, the workmanship. Plus better materials than the Sanrenmu, of course.

Personally, I would not buy a Sanrenmu instead of a Sebenza. If I want item A, I want item A. Not item B. Item B will always remind me that it is not item A. So, chances are, I will never be 100 % satisfied with the product.

As for the morality police, some people need to learn to lighten up. Why do people think they have to control the thoughts and morals of someone else with a keyboard?
I mean, how much control do you really have over someone's wallet and their buying habits? State your view online and be done. If your opponent does not agree, so what? What are you going to do? Call out the National Guard?

It is amazing how many members have torches and pitchforks sitting next to their computer.

Ok, Ill try properly this time.

Sebenzas are NOT the ultimate knife. They are really damn good, and they really work well, but there is better out there.

They way I deal with stuff like this is MVP, Minimum Viable Product.

Take a sebenza, $600. Find a knife with similar features for maybe 30% of that price and get that. See how it feels. Then if you decide you still want a sebenza, wait until you can find it for 30% off and buy.

That being said, What is the reason you're looking at a sebenza? Is it quality of fit and finish? Smoothness? the name?

edit: I just realized this post reads like a sleep deprived 12 year old's rantings... Only half of that is true right now, your guess which. :p

Trying to use the old sleep deprived trick to cover for the fact you’re only twelve eh?

Don’t fall for his tricks OP. Fulfill your destiny and buy the Sebenza.

I feel like as a knife enthusiast I have an obligation to myself to have a Sebenza in the collection. I dont question that it's a very well built knife and has beautiful aesthetics. But for that hefty price tag what am I really getting that I dont already have in my other knives? I have titanium framelocks and plenty of S35VN. Is it the knife itself as a whole that warrants such a price or is it the name engraved on it?
:) You don't need it unless you think you do !

If you can afford and want ...go for it !

Many cheaper knives will be equally functional or even superior in some ways .

But if you got an itch for it ...best scratch it ! ;)

Thread closed. Too much thread drift.
I'd give infractions, but I'd have to give them to folks on both sides of the fence.

For the record. BladeForums differentiates between "clones" and "knives made in China".
Nothing wrong with knives made in China. Nothing right about clones.
Discussion of knives made in China would be acceptable in its own thread.
Discussion of Clones is not welcome on BladeForums.
Neither is acceptable in a thread about Sebenzas.
