No such a thing! Even giving your entire collection away won't help. It will just make a lot of space to a lot more knives.
I know that from my own experience . LOL

True, I gave away a load of great knives some years ago, in the long run it hasn't made any difference.

the best thing I could think of for rehab for knife nuts is....a good gun forum....in which case, you will need rehab for a gun nut and be sent back here (or a forum for your vehicle).....its a never ending cycle...

Yeah, I went through cycles where I bought and then sold. I have since found peace with having a collection and don't feel guilty anymore.

Been working on a twelve step program for our illness
but keeping getting interrupted by new knife deliveries.

The cure is to feed the need.

Buy the best knife you can imagine. After you experience perfection, your desire for "lesser" knives will be greatly diminished.

And the wife walks in and says what are you doing. I say I just got this new knife and I was giving it a test drive. She says let me see it ( that doesn't happen very often) so I hand it over. Poof it's hers now! lol

Big LOL on that one! I have that very same problem in my house...now that she has a few a new behavior pattern has emerged...she occasionally wants to trade now  ie: I've got a new one that she wants, so I get an old one that she grabbed back...fun stuff!

Looks to me like you need one more, that knife you're already thinking about.

I did very good this month as I only bought 19 (well I just bought another this morning so I guess that counts as 20) "Darn".* The last one I bought yesterday was a Damascus Canoe and it will be here Monday or Tuesday ~~ does that count for next month or this month.?? Oh well ~~ I can't win but I am thinking about joining Knives Nuts Crazy House Inc. and you have to stay there in Knoxville for 6 weeks in order for it to help you with your Knife problem and they want me to bring all my Knives with me.!* Wonder why.???? oiugtrw gtr rtshh 7yrt5ed !!!!!!!

Lol, now there is some real truth if ever I've heard it.

Knife and gun addiction run in pairs. Funny thing though, I think the knifeknut/gunnut gene is recessive for me. Once I found the perfect rifle I have not even kept up with what has come out in the last 5 years or so. As for knives it comes and it goes. I'll go years without buying a single knife and then buy 4 or 5 in a year. Once you find a knife that really fits the bill it is hard to put it away. Especially once you associate a certain knife with memories and suchlike.

I've discovered that substituting one for another doesn't work. After collecting Zippos for many years (and finding all but a small handful that I want, like a reasonably priced Mickey Mouse Zippo), I accidentally discovered mechanical watches...which quickly developed into an out of control addiction. After buying most of what I like (again, except for a few, high priced ones like an Omega Speedmaster) I innocently stopped in here looking for information on a Case knife. Uh-oh... :D

I think Frank and ~P nailed it. We always need just one more, and our favorite companies and makers are more than happy to supply them ;)

This all sounds like you think knife collecting addictions (or gun) are a bad thing????? Where did that ever come from?

Don't miss understand I own LOTS of knives (and guns for that matter) just like and as( for that matter)many here are on a tight knife budget ,that as most people here now know, I have blown
Oops

Paul every year at the end of May a bunch of us folks, trying to get away from the Traditional knife addiction, meet for breakfast at the Waverley Hotel in Atlanta for a group support session. We talk about the evils of knife collecting and we re-inforce our commitment to not buy any knives until after the Tony/Reese Bose auction. Then we all run into Blade and spend all our cash!!

You need to be there mate!:D

By the way.........nice haul you have there.:)

You're out of control Paul! :D I was telling ScruffUK a few months back that I'm going to try to buy less knives...hasn't really worked! :D

I think you got that the other way round Jack, I told you I was cutting back.....

.....I too failed.

Not trying to cut back...just trying to come up with a way to free up more money for the collection. I mean I really don't need 3 whole meals a day...or even 2 and the holes in my tee shirt aren't that bad.... Wonder if I could skip my blood pressure pill every other day??? Naaa, probably not...who'd end up with my knives?
