The khukuki description from John:
Description:
An Indian made "Officer's" model from 1947-1950 Ivory and horn scale grips. Oval brass buutcap with with a split or doble ended tang. 12" blade, 17.5" o/a, 1.7 lbs
Blade marked "Tempered Steel Made in India" in the proper arch and position. Machined cho and excellent steel. Scabbard is in excellent shape and totally correct. Both beltstraps are intact with no tears or rips. Blade probably made under contract near Dehra Dun and handle finished by a regimental kami for presentation to an Indian Officer commanding a Gurkha Regiment.
This kukri was purchased in England from a retired Gurkha Officer who got it from his Uncle who was advising the transition of the Regiments in 1947. I could not verify this, but it could be from the 4th or 5th GR. I bought this knife in 1999.
