Something a little different?

I love my Sage 1. The carbon fiber makes it look cool and the blade flicks open like nothing. I carry it everyday. Except on weekends when I carry my black-out PM2. I love the PM2 almost as much as the Sage 1. It's lightweight, crazy sharp, and feels like it's capable of more than I need. I also have a Delica I keep near by desk just in case the Sage 1 or the PM2 are in another room.

But ... I'd probably like another Spydie. Frankly, I don't know what to get. Just something that fits a different dimension than these others. Wood would be nice, but isn't necessary. I like Gayle Bradley's designs, but I don't have my heart set on that. I don't really need anything smaller than what I've got. I wouldn't hate carrying something a little heavier. Maybe something with some warmth to it?

To those who know and those who love: What am I missing? What Spydie do you love not just because it's a great knife, but because it's a member of your family?

Domino.....your choice of custom scale from Sketchenscales, desert ironwood is fantastic.

We all have models that are near and dear to our hearts. Mine is the serrated Pacific Salt. Partly because of the design and usefulness but just as much because of all the wonderful times I have had while carrying and using that knife. My suggestion is find a model that you will enjoy carrying and using...ultimately that is where the "warmth" comes from. :)

Thanks, guys.

Razzle, your ironwood suggestion is appealing. Maybe it is the wood that I'm looking for. Something just a little more like grandpa's old knife.

I would highly recommend a Native 5 with the S35VN blade. They have a better edge retention than VG-10 , but are easier to sharpen than S30V. And guess what ? They never chip ! Powerful little package

The military and Gayle Bradley are my top two favorites right now. Both dress up nicely.
Another that doesn't get the attention it deserves is the Lum Chinese. The handle feels like a part of my XL hand, despite having a relatively small and smooth handle.
Thanks for the shout Razzle!

Do you have any GBs with wood scales at the moment?

Steve's wait times are not bad at all, looks like a couple of weeks right now.....he'd better finish my Sebenza, first!

Thing is, you WILL be happy with his work, he's an incredible craftsman, with a true passion for what he does. Seems I always have one of my beloved knives at his place. I should start getting a healthy discount for my glowing reviews! Ha!

This is some gorgeous desert ironwood he did for me......

Everyone should check out the domino seems like it would fit your smaller and heavier requests, it looks small in pictures but it's a great size and am sure it could take a beating.

I would not want to be without my Domino, one of my all time favorites. I sold off a bunch of knives, recently, but there was never a doubt in my mind that the Domino was staying right here! Fantastic do-everything knife.

G10 scale by you know who......

The Chokwe is one I let go and miss very much - the Domino - not so much. We all have or preferences :).

That one above is a beauty - I'm inspired to start looking for another Chokwe

To match the build of the Sage one you could go...
Smaller to the Chapparral.
a bit larger to the Caly in two sizes and even a sexy laminate blade.
Or buy some custom wood scales for the knife you have.

Your going to have more knives than you need if your assigning them rooms already anyway.

Beautiful knife Razzle! I love burl wood!

I'd try a Manix 2. Affordable, ergonomic, smooth, great lock, nice size, FFG etc. Can't go wrong!

All good recommends. I think I should get some of these in my hand for feel then make a choice. Thanks, guys!

I don't, but feel free to email or pm me to discuss. Good luck with the search!
My method has been to try just about all of them that remotely appeal to me and sell what doesnt stick. (And often rebuy them to try again...) :-)
