So i see the outstanding reactions the blur has gotten on here. I for one do not own one nor have i ever had one in hand. Is there something i am missing with these? Is it something i need to just go ahead and buy to understand all the hype? Just wondering

what are you missing? a lot.

is it something you need to just go ahead and buy to understand the hype? indeed.

i'd pick up a blem from kershawguy for starters...you won't regret the purchase.

Do yourself an even bigger favor and take out the torsion bar. I gained a whole new appreciation for the quality of the Blur the first time I opened it manually. I will never go back to assisted!

^ Ok Ill try it as a manual knife.

Steve, you are indeed missing out. And listen to both of those guys. Stick says get the Carbon Fiber version, its always good to listen to Stick. Plus the steel upgrade is worth it. And SolidO's suggestion is worth trying, Ill probably do that today. One Orange/Snap-On FrankenBlur, de-assisted coming up!

^ Listen to all these guys, they are true Blur aficiondo's. :D

BTW Bob, what is a "O.C.C. Blur"?

Orange County Choppers Blur. It is the handle pattern that the new spider web green and purple Blurs came from except that it had a spider and OCC logo in white.

Don't listen to any of them. I did this once.........once. :D

It is usually addictive.

Does it have the detent to keep the blade closed properly without the speedsafe? I've been curious about the Blur as well... =)

Absolutely. My son gave me a S30V Blur for Christmas. I already had a red Blur that I had removed the torsion bar from, so I did the same thing with the new one. Makes me wonder why they made it a Speedsafe model in the first place. Smoothest opening knife I own.

I took the torsion bar out in my CF154 and it will take a little to get used to it if you've never done it before.

Is there a detent in the Blur to hold the blade in?

My s30v Blur might get some pocket time if I can successfully remove the detent
