Something different from me, from out of this world

As with ALL of Mark's work, the materials he uses are rich and unusual. This one as well. How he mixed amber and the meteorite for the handle scales was something I'd never seen.

Mark will put combinations together that have been firsts in my eyes for years.

I loved how the inlay has a nice rounded bevel and sits somewhat proud in the frame. If you hold it up to the light (open) you can see into it.

Good stuff, Mark! Thanks for the opportunity to capture this.

Thanks a lot Coop, and thanks for all your hard work. exploring new possibilities is what make life exciting. It is what makes me get up in the morning, well, there's that and I gotta let dog out and take out the trash :D:D

Very cool folder Mr. Knapp.
I also had heard that the Widmanstatten pattern would fade if forged or even heat treated.
The laminated blade looks great.
Plus the olivine scales really look good.
Beautiful folder.

Thanks Mark, the key to forging meteorite seems to be welding it at the very lowest heat that it will weld at. Each meteorite acts differently when forged. I started with small sample of each meteorite and did some experimenting. This one welded well between 2050 and 2100 degrees.

I'd love to have this knife hang out in my pocket all day, every day. Pretty awesome.

As with many things, your experimenting proved that accepted "facts" are not always correct.

Experimenting is easy, all it takes the willingness to accept some failures, every once something works out. I've got a shop full of things that haven't worked out........ yet.
