I know it's not the best knife ever made but it's the best stick tang knife that I have made.

The guard-ricasso fit up sucks, because I suck and the blade is machine polished and buffed.

This is one of the 1095 blades I put a hamon on, I'm not sure how well it shows being buffed...

The handle materials are green 3/4" G11 from JatMat and the black is 1/4" neoprene.

Blade is 6-1/8 tip to guard, OAL is 10-3/4"

SS Guard and butt cap and peened tang, I didn't take a pic because I need to sandblast some ink and dried epoxy and polish it up but have to wait till tomorrow when compressor is on.

Thanks for looking and comments welcomed.

It looks good! What are the tow materials on the handle? One looks like bone of some sort but what are the spacers?

Thanks!

Doh!

Forgot some other details...

I like the surface finish it will improve it's resistance to surface wear. The colour of the handle is apprealing I say.

I keep going back on things I say. I said I didn't like buffed blades but this one just seemed to call out "buff me, Buff Me!"

I like the over all shape of the whole knife...., but I think the handle could use a little more contour and "shape" to it. (This is not a reflection on YOUR knife), but I dont care for finger grooves. Regarding the Hamon...you buffed all the oxides off and thats why it's not showing. I think if you cleaned the blade real good and then dipped it in FC for about ten seconds then hit it with an old t-shirt and some flitz you would get that nice hamon back.
It looks like you have some deep scrathches on the blade under the buff.
If I was gonna buff a blade I would start with 120 grit length ways, 220 width, 400 length...etc. and so on up to 1000-2000 grit before buffing- making sure to get all the previous scratches out of one grit before moving on to the next.
Just my 2 cents...hope it helps.
It's a cool looking knife and I like the green G-11:D

Thanks for the input, Mace. I did the FC dunk and it really makes the hamon pop out so I will pick up some flitz tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

I'm not a real big fan of finger grooves either, that's why I kept them quite subtle but I think I will tone down the front 2 bumps a little yet.

I think I invented some polishing compound... Here's some new pics with my camera and in my lightbox and after an etch. Thanks for the tip Mace!

Nice Hammon, and an interesting handle combination. Should be pretty slip resistant with the neopream.
