I had to throw something easy together after all the intense work on the slipjoint. Here's the stats:

Wood Carver
Blade is A-2, Rc 60.5 (Wilfred Works Cryo & HT)
6 3/8" OAL
1 3/4" BL
1/8" BT

Handle is Maple Burl stabilized by me and is 3/4" wide
Brass Pins for that old world, hand tool look
Mozaic pin by me
Handle has 2 coat laquer, buffed finish

Nice work Kerry, I like the handle shape...what is your stabilization process? And do you spray your lacquer over the blade spine? If so can you see a lacquer line at the transition? Just curious?

Also, I been meaning to ask you if this is the same Kerry Hampton that played the bass at MCC? I lived in the “Big Stinky” for about 7 years. Now I’m south of TH about an hour. Not that far from you maybe we could get together sometime to talk knives.

Thanks, Brent Cramer

HA!...I've been caught! Yes it's the one and the same. Hey, TH isn't as stinky as it used to be. I imagine I would recognize the face but don't recognize the name. It's a big church so lots more folks know me than I know from that place.

Thanks for the shout...email me.

I used the Northcoastknives.com process, which I found to be pretty messy...plus the hardener wasn't that easy to find.

As far as the laquer goes, I just taped off the blade portion outside of the handle and sprayed it. Yea, there's a laquer line, and I wouldn't do that if I was going to sell it. I would use something professionally stabilized or something that didn't require a finish.

Good job. I like that mosaic pin design :)

Thanks, I happened to be in Hobby Lobby one day and saw they had some brass and copper rods and tubes. I put it all in a box and shook it up and thats what came out :D (something like that)
