Something I would love to see.

IMO the GRS line suffers bad from the cho creep. Worse than other models for some reason.

hmmm... with all the chi hybrids out recently
it would be interesting to see a bonecutter with chit handle :)

I wouldn't mind springing for a 16" bonecutter if Yangdu could be conviced to have the Kamis come up with one.

Not sure if HI is up for any special projects but if they were and could guarantee I'd get it back I'd be glad to send one of mine for a pattern:thumbup:

get it back, and unmodified, changed, damaged. they shouldn't have to take it apart, or change the edge. i've heard the sword story :P

if they could make it with *zero* cho creep, or NO cho, that would be fantastic.

in three sizes!

If you look at the original large Ganga Ram Special pic on HI's site it is very much like the Bonecutter. The more recent Ganga Rams are not as round tipped and more curved

hollow,

would it probably wicked useful? if you listed various specifications for the bonecutters - OAL, handle length, blade length, weight, thicknesses - esp spine thickness, weights... the edge profile is esp critical... specify that the tip is soft, but the very large sweet spot is also harder - possibly more so than on most GRS for example. possibly cutting out templates out of wood for them to work with... ???

here's my big GRS, very bonecutter like, but it's 21.5 inches long and light at 43 ounces :) not quite the 1/2 spine as on bonecutters...

it's interesting that the original GRS looked almost right, and current GRS look more like PENknives. mmm :)

a bonecutter please i pray, should have a standard silver bolster. only silver. not brass... NOOOOOOO habaki. none at all. gah. no having a CHO would be spiffy too. something that could chop bricks. stone. steel girders. feel the passion! no hababki, i pray!

it wouldn't even need a karda/chakma! MAYBE a utility knife (good sized). no carved handles. nothing fancy. i'm not asking for much :) could even skip the metal chape. notice that the bonecutter sheath is just leather? yah. nothing fancy. please please please :)

I'll do that Bladite.

One thing different if you look at that Ganga Ram off of the website and the Bonecutter is that the bonecutter has a little bit wider blade farther toward the Cho, it also has a longer edge, using Simon's way of referring to it.

On the small one:

Blade length 11" Spine is 7/16" for about 2/3 of the length and then tapering very slightly to the end.

Blade at widest point 2 5/8" Near bolster 1 1/4"

Bolster 3/4 long

Handle 5"( incl bolster ) Thickness top to bottom 7/8" side 1 1/4" Butt end 2 3/4" X 1 1/2"

length bevel that goes to the edge 3/4

Weight- I said it was 25 but I just weighed it 3x and it is 27 oz:thumbup: So for being so short it still has a lot of weight.

Kicking this to the top. I would love to see some of these made by Sgt Khadka. Because of all the khuks I have his seem to have the best tempering and the hardest edges.

When I first saw Hollow's Bone cutter I thought it was an old style BGRS. I agree the new ones don't look quite the same. Would be nice to see some Bonecutters around. :) So you got my vote.

Thanks Hollow, I hope this works out. :)

I seem to recall the original Bonecutters were made of rail steel? rather than spring steel?

I may be mistaken though.

The bonecutters are Khukuri House???? I've been a little oblivious lately, so pardon me if HI put these out in the last year or two.

No supposedly the other ones he made were out of rail steel and the BC's were spring steel.

I assume it would be in the Archive section of KF on the old GK Khuks forum there.
