something I've noticed about Busse knives

Yes indeed there are naysayers.... Guy today asked mye if I wanted to trade one or a couple of my Busses for Randall 14.....umm NO! The tells me "I heard Busse knives are not that good. Yeah you can't beat on them like a Randall" All I could think is can I chop your Randall in half with my adorable Scrapper 5 LE it's only a Busse kin. Then I asked him if we could try chopping cinder blocks with his Randall he says no that would screw /_ _ ck up my knife... I began to chuckle

Reminds me of when I got my Busse. My buddy who is waaaaay more of a knife guy than me said "Jeezus! You have any idea how many gerbers or cold steel knives you could've bought?!", to which I replied "About as many is I can cut in half with this knife before it needs any real edge work".

Owned a bunch of high dollar knives for many years. Only recently started with the busse insanity.

Just buy one and you'll understand.

The problem is one can find use for all the different styles and sizes before you know it you have dozens and you need use outlets so you start using a Battle Mistress for buttering toast and so on.:thumbup:

I don't know. I try to keep my use To what the blades were designed for.

I use to be one of those guys that thought BUSSE knives were just high priced non-user custom knives. I never bad mouthed spending a substantial amount of cash on a knife either. Mostly because I was previously a "Benchmade" guy for their warranty and tough knives. I use to love TOPS and Ontario also. After owning a BUSSE knife........well.........forgive them for they know not what they say about BUSSE. I am on my way to selling every knife I own to get more INFI. Really people. ...how can you bash a company with the best warranty in the biz.

And how can one bash one of the nicest guys in the business?

1000% agree, no one does what Jerry does for his customers.......no one.
Come for the knives, stay for the people.

For this I would have to agree. Blade 2014... First time meeting the crew and some of you. It was incredible. the blades are second to none as well. I have turned many nay-sayers up here in the great white north.

Busse has the best knife names.

Come on man - Battle Mistress, Nuclear Muskrat, Badger Attack, Terror Monkey, Taliwacker, just to mention a few!!!

Beat That!!

The first time I saw SOB, I thought "ha funny" then I saw "Son Of Badger", also cool. I liked the deception there.

^^Yup^^
Hell Razor,Nuclear Meltdown Special Forces Natural Outlaw,Sarsquatch,Tank Buster.....Wow Man!

Holy hell I never knew any hunk of metal could inspire such bitter jealousy. Things I've heard since posting pics of my new Busse knives on other forums:

"Overpriced"
"Money wasted, could have bought a Ka-Bar"
"sissy knife"
"You'll never use it"

Frankly if I knew it would be this damn entertaining I would have bought one a long time ago!

^--- Just invite them over for some Kool-Aid. We can always spare a glass for a new piglet. ;)

Well, admittedly there are many brands of great knives "out there" in the world.
But, I bought my first BUSSE because I didn't want to cut corners when I was shopping for a 100% trustworthy SHTF type survival knife.

I HAVE heard naysayer comments like: "BUSSE knives are overpriced & well, I wouldn't EVER do (blah blah blah) to ANY knife ANYWAY - because THAT is abuse and I don't subject my knives to abuse....& on & on."

In a true survival type scenario you do not know what you'll ultimately need to expect your knife to do or what exact tasks it will have to accomplish.

Especially if you are left with your knife as your only tool.

In my opinion that IS where the BUSSE knives shine. AKA when your knife may need to perform unexpected tasks other than simple slicing or cutting which any decent quality knife WILL do.

For me personally...it is the "above and beyond" that makes the BUSSE knives worth the extra money spent.

That is what I feel that I have paid for.

I like the idea of having a knife that can easily handle extremely rough use and possible abuse should the need arise in some future scenario when I will have many other things to worry about.

I don't want the added worry over breaking my knife. How can you put a price on that?

To those whom a Busse[kin] may be overpriced, their life may be undervalued... ;)

...which is quite possibly demonstrated by their spending too much time on sites where the prices are insanely higher than fair market. :p

I tested most of mine when I first got into INFI and found they could do things that would destroy most other blades. All of these shots include my first Busse, an FBM LE, I still have her as I know she will cut the mustard and anything else I put in her way. I know what I can do if need be with just one tool in my possession... I wish all of my purchases came with this kind of peace of mind. Now, years later I have a family, too many projects to list and a job that keeps me away from chances to beat on my knives as much as I would like, but the memories remain. I am busy, but I am also happy, and it has nothing to do with numbers in an account somewhere out of my reach for the better part of 24/7/365. INFI is a small, but significant part of that happiness.

Wood splitting in nice weather. Sure, you could use an axe, but have you ever tried packing one on your belt?

Frozen solid wood chopping, for when times are really hard... and really cold, yet you have the capacity to make things better.

Ice fishing without an auger, if you are that hungry, you probably can't afford an auger or the gas for it and the workout will help warm you up similar to the frozen wood chopping.

Sheetmetal resizing for scrap processing, much quicker than snips believe it or not.

Emergency vehicle extraction testing similar to can opening on a larger more difficult scale. Ogre has way better pics to demonstrate this concept.

As far as I know, we only get one go around on this rock. Money is just a measurement of how you spent your time earning it, so why not have something you can be proud of to show for your ever dwindling time left on this planet? Plus, sometimes it is just plain fun to hang out with friends, family and/or fellow piglets/hogs.
