For about 5 years, I've passingly known a guy living near here, that has talked about teaching years ago with Larry Dean Olsen, Cody Lundin, Mors Kochanski and a few of the other "names", and while he always seemed sincere, in this day and age, I guess I'm jaded enough that I always take that kind of stuff with a grain of salt, because you here it from guys at lots of gun/knife/outdoors shows.

Well yesterday, Cody Lundin posted a picture online of instructors from the 1990 Rabbit Stick gathering, and there this guy was plain as day.

That is cool; its nice when ppl turn out to be exactly what they say they are.

You could learn a lot from a man like that and perhaps develop a great friendship as well

He's a pretty interesting guy, I first met him while attending some Sufi meetings to learn more about it, he's a member of the local Sufi community and runs an organic farm.

Real laid back and when we talked about primitive skills stuff, he always came across as really knowing his stuff.

I noticed then, that he doesn't say a whole lot, but the people around him tended to listen when he did.

Bear, what is a 'sufi community'?

Sufi's are sort of a branch of Islam that are more into Mysticism and Ascetic practices.

I enjoy studying various religions, and we have a fairly decent sized Sufi group near here, so I was hanging out with some of them to learn about them.

Kinda "Muslim Hippies" (at least our local group was) :)

Neat stuff. Definitely a good person to get to know! I find I learn a lot just shooting the breeze and chatting with folks in the know. They are much more willing to talk, debate and give you their real opinion in person rather than bother with the internet. Plus, its always fun to hear about the old stories they have. Terry Barney has a million and one up his sleeve that are as much worth hearing as the lessons he teaches :D
