something kind'a interesting nearing completion

Holy moly, came in from the shop for a soda and this thread is pretty active... lol :)

Originally we talked about Ironwood... which is always a good choice.

But in my heart, I'd love for him to say amber stag as well. I think it would elevate the knife from nice to elegant.... In the simple elegance type of fashion.

Ivory would be nice, but it's hard to justify ivory on a hunter unless it's a really high end type of hunter... like damascus blade, damascus guard/frame, etc. (IHMO). :)

Thanks :)

The pedigree of this knife could handle nicer materials, IMO..
But I guess it all depends on what Mitch's bid was, eh?

Stag at the minimum says me.

Ya know what would be funny as Hell? If Nick decided to put some cheesy looking pakkawood scales on it! :p:D

Ok, bad attempt at humor there. My vote is for choice Sambar stag. :)

Or the infamous green dyed wildwood available only in deepest Arkansas.

Hey Nick,

Danbo's right. I just talked to Mitch. He said green Dymondwood's fine by him. Git 'r done and get moving onto the next one.... :p ;) :D

Man, this post has gotten more quick looks than a Mick Strider seminar teaching San Mei at a hammer-in. You guys are vicious.

Don't be afraid to make suggestions to the customer - I have been steered in the right direction by a maker more than once when it comes to handle materials.

Amber stag or fossil ivory would be my choices. The overall design may be simple, but the names on the blade (as well as what I know will be utterly superb final finishing) make it special. Lesser material choices may not be criminal, but they would be, well, lesser.

Of course, Mitch can have it his way (though I hope he passes on the dog poo suggestion :p). Maybe he wants to actually use this little puppy - which would make ironwood a good choice.

If not mutil colored Dymondwood, how bout some fuscia G10 or maybe camo homemade burlap micarta?:D

I'd say this blade needs more of a Nightmare Grind (tm), and a handle of blue G10 with Tritium insert, a lanyard Ultra Glow Toxic Green (tm), and a little skull bead at the end, all on a Taktikool (tm) kydex sheath w/ Teklok (tm).

 :D

Oh damn, someone beat me to the micarta suggestion...but I thought the bead skull was inspired.

Note: I saw some good oak at Lowes. For a knife of such dubious quality, and a user, that should be considered. Then again, the stabilized dog droppings might look better.

Seriously, the oosic should be considered.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Mitch is a fan of koa wood.

Personally, I'd go with the amber stag:thumbup:.

The blade is too busy. Maybe grind off a few of those names and then it will match up perfectly with maroon micarta handles.
