Something long and pointy in progress for Atlanta...

Oh, man, I can't believe I missed this! Scott, it was a pleasure meeting you (this is Scott, I ran into you while we were both drooling over Rodrigo's engraving and inlay work) and I wish I had made it to see this, blast it! That blade is just beautiful, takes the breath away, I can only imagine the effect in person, holding it. Next time!

Well thanks so much for the comments folks... I had such a wonderful time at this show and I'm still buzzing with the energy of inspiration.

My sword smithing up to this point has been focused on making a sword that just feels and performs right...but this is just the beginning. Shows like this demonstrate to new makers like me what is possible in the art of blade. The sword has the potential to be such a large and wonderful pallet for artistic expression. And hopefully someday I will approach it with a finer hand... And approach it as a work of sublime art. Right now the work of people like John White, Rodrigo Sfreddo, Dave Lisch, Kevin Cashen and others will be haunting me and driving me.

Scott, I hope I'm not out of line in any way when I ask you this, but here it is...Do you have ANY IDEA how far you've come since you first started posting up your swords?!? You are BEYOND awesome with your creations at this point! I feel like an ass that this is the first time I've seen this thread. It's totally my loss that I missed the chance to see you and this bad boy at BLADE. You consistently raise the bar with each new piece my friend. My inner-collector is starting to go completely insane and kick at the inside of my skull when I look at your threads man, seriously. Keep doing what you're doing and don't ever let up...it's an inspiration to all of us blade junkies!

Thanks a lot Michael.... I also regret not getting to meet you again. I tried a few times but you were swamped! I appreciate the attention and encouragement that makers like you give to my stuff. The attention to detail and eye for lines and material combinations is something I strive for...
