I am working on providing kydex sheaths for my knives. I will be starting with my smaller neck and pocket models, and eventually be doing them for my larger models. I am waiting on the correct size eyelets to come next week, the ones I got are too big. Let me know what you think, this one is for one of the 3 Finger models I showed last week.

It actually has very defined lines, but my pictures suck! This picture shows it a little better.

Hey John, that looks good. While you are experimenting a bit, one of the things I have really come to admire in RatCutlery's sheaths is the rows of eyelets on both sides of the blade. Having eyelets on both sides of the blade make the sheath incredibly versatile for tie downs, lashings and to use simple paracord as the belt loop.

I understand that this might make the fold a touch more complicated plus it adds a bit of width to the size of the sheath. However, if using the paracord belt loops, you don't need a tec-lock or separate kydex belt loop. This cuts down bulk and compensates for the extra edge.

Just a few thoughts.

That sounds like a good idea, I`ll try it when my eyelets come in next week.

John, here is a shot of the RC-3 in its molded sheath for reference. The breeden sheath is from On-Scene tactical. Sorry - stock photo without a JK reference blade ;)

I like the fold-over style kydex sheaths with a belt loop on the back. Less drag as you walk and I just like the look. Firesteel loops are nice add-on's too.

Neckers would be okay with a two-piece design and eyelets all-round. I like paracord outer jacket over beaded chain for the necklace. Silicone tubing over beaded chain works well too.

I would trim down the flange a bit--- if you don't have that in mind already. Don't forget the lefties!

You make some traditional looking knives, so I can understand why Kydex may seem a little odd. It works though. I had one made for my Fallkniven and it really makes the knife part of a system-- very secure and safe for me and the knife. I do have a firesteel on mine.

Looking good John. I'm gonna have to order one for my HB from you. A pocket Kephart to accompany it home, perhaps?

+1 for firesteel loops. I don't have any sheaths with them, but hopefully I will sometime soon. I've been looking at the JRE mora sheaths, and as soon as I buy my books for the semester I think I will get one.

I just figured I had quite a few guys asking about it, so I decided to go for it.

ah crap. now I really need to get another job (or maybe one with set hours) but then again if I picked up one of those my GF would steal it in half a heartbeat. nice looking stuff.

Little by little, I don't think there's anything this guy can't do!!

Great looking sheath John.

On a side note, ever thought of putting a "notch" somewhere on your blades to be a dedicated firesteel striker? I've seen a couple of other knives with them. /shrug
