Recommendation? Something Similar

I love the #83 pattern from GEC. It's a good size, lock back, and the clip point suits my needs. I'm looking for something similar, but in stainless. Lock back, small/medium frame not over 3 1/2" and clip point. USA made preferred, or very reputable overseas maker. I love the simple design and functionality. I've been doing some searching, but haven't really come up with anything myself. I thought I might come here and get some suggestions from the guru's :D

No Guru here, but the Case Mini Copperlock comes to mind...but it measures 3-5/8" - just a bit over your max size. They do have a bunch of real purty ones in stainless. Here's mine in CV...

She's a looker, and I really like that long pull. The more I look at it, the more that front bolster grows on me. I haven't jumped too deep into Case knives, but I've seen a few patters (can't remember the names of them) that I like.

I concur with the prior recommendations. I don't carry mine (because I have enough others to carry), but it would work beautifully as an EDC.

I just started carrying a GEC Navy Knife, which I'm very pleasantly surprised with how much I like it - BUT was carrying my #83 every day up until a week ago. I think the mini copperlock would be very comparable.

Interesting. Seems like that is one that fits the bill. I also thought I had seen some Queen or S&M, but I'm not sure the pattern or steel. Being a novice in the traditional world, I lack the knowledge of the differences of all the patters within each brand.

That's the first knife I thought of, too. You might find you like that copperhead bolster -- it does a great job of hiding the tang when the knife is closed.

Plus it comes in a large variety of covers and its reasonably priced. There must be a Rough Rider that fits the bill that won't set you back much.

You can still find the USA made Schrade 5OT quite easily. They are great little lockback knives

Over all length is 6.75 inches.
The blade length is 2.75 inches.
Closed it is 3.75 inches.

I like that 5OT, although it's a hair larger than I may want to carry. But it could be worth a try. Same with the LB5. What types of steels are they using on those? How would either/both compare to the quality and F&F of the copperlock?

Another vote for the Case Mini Copperlock here. Randy Redden sent my grandson the exact clone of the red one GEJr showed above. My grandson really likes it a lot. I have to say, the few times he let me carry it, I found it a joy to have in the pocket and put it to use. Like GEJr's, his is CV as well, but they make the same version in TruSharp stainless. Can't go wrong for the price.
Thanks again Randy. :D

I like the case mini copperlock as well.
I'm also a fan of the small Camillus lockback.
Google Camillus 715, or open the thumbnail. This is 3 1/8" frame with about a 2" blade. They used a 440C and heat treated it properly.

I've had a number of 3.5" Rough Rider "lockback hunters" that remind me a bit of what I see in pics of GEC 83s. Here are a couple (I no longer have either):
Amber jigged bone (IMHO, this is a good-looking knife)

I think out of all I like the copperlock best so far, followed by the Rough Rider above. That's the sort of style I'm looking for I believe. I'll have to research that Camillus, I do like the way my Bucks in 440C take and hold an edge. That's my only experience with that steel, but it's been a good one. I'm also curious what kind of steel Case uses for its stainless, and it's hardness, but I don't want to open that can of worms if the answer isn't simple..

Check out Buck's 501 lockback. You can order one from their custom shop in s30v and they have several handle choices. It's not a clip but their drop point is all kinds of useful.

Have several. My favorite and most carried is a pre '84. I just love the look of the 83 pattern, and was looking for a clip point. I do love my 501 though, it's actually in my pocket as I type :D

How about the Queen QNQT1 / Q-TAC1 I don't know if this is something too modern but it seems to check off alot of your box's. It's made with ATS-34 steel/ 3 3/8 closed. The blade is 2 5/8 the handles are G-10. Weighing in at a whopping 0.15 Oz
P.S. It also comes with the lanyard $_1 (1).JPG

Ix-Nay on the one-hander-hay.
(It's hard to say one-hander in Pig Latin.)
Thumb studs are not acceptable in Traditional.
