Something terrible has happened!!

I would say RMD, as it's perform's very well at skinning and is super tough from the pics posted by fellow forum member's. I have no experience with the 511 but the RMD alway's get's raving review's.
Edit/ I am surprised a INFIMANDUE has not been made considering the popularity of this blade and a HRLM would not be shabby either in INFI.

Gotta go with the RMD. It's a great knife. There should be more in stock in a few days at the swamp. Pick one or two up.

It looks huge in the preview but when you actually submit it, that's just the way it came out... So you were probably doing it right... I think...
 
some quick thoughts:

re: the SY 6" sheath: I grabbed one on my last order from the Yard, hoping it would do for the 511 (or one of my RMD's / Scrapper 5). Not a good option. Way too long, and you'd need to make a custom insert for any of those blades. None of them could really be secured in the stock one.

re: RMD vs 511: I'd say it depends on your hand size. I have large, meaty hands, and I found that with the 511 I really couldn't get a comfortable grip on it. For me, the handle is just too small for a four finger grip, and just too large for a comfortable three finger grip. I already turned it over to someone on the exchange. Very disappointing. The RMD, on the other hand, feels like it was molded to me. That seems to be a recurring theme you hear when people are discussing the RMD. There is something simply right about that handle.

I must have girly hands cuz I love the feel of the 511, fits my mit perfect. Havnt really used her yet but it feels like a real winner. If I had to choose, id save some $ and get the 511, also has same steel as rmd so thats pretty sweet.

I think if if it didn't have the slight bird-beak at the pommel end, it would have been fine for me. As it is, I was either squeezing my pinky in, or having to awkwardly hook around or behind it.

I'm hoping there's other size handles on tap for the rest of the *11 lineup, as I think they're really pushing the envelope on price/performance with them.
