Next time your out in the wilds and wondering what Bushcraft skills you can practice, why not work on your notching !!!
Notching comes in handy for everything from making camp furniture to parts for traps.
I used to think that they could only be done with a SAK using the saw etc but they can also be achieved with a fixed blade, they just take a little more time and care.
As you can see from the pics I still need a lot more practice but in my defense the wood in the pics was very hard, I think it was oak, I had made a figure 4 trap the other week using some type of pine and that cut like butter !!!
And the two pieces matched together....
Be carefull though.....
When picking blackberries cos the juice is a pain to get off !!!
Well you didn't really think Pit would be that careless did ya !!!!!
There were plenty of Salal berries as well.....
Did I mention that Maisy is a berry gobbler ? Ever since she first saw me eat them she can't get enough !!!!
She likes Blackberries,Blueberries and Thimbleberries but Salal seem to be her favourite....maybe she's part Bear !
