What about a fixed blade? Esee Izula with pocket clip for IWB carry

I also like the ZT 450, light, opens fast and you can throw the 560 deep cary clip on it. ZT will send you a free one if you ask.

Or you could go with another Spyderco, I love the Dragonfly I carry it over a delica. The salt 1 is excellent or get a waved knife .

I really like the idea of the 0450 (as well as the mantra 2). I want a narrow slicer. I understand that the 0450 is a terrible slicer, and the mantra isn't stainless. I can just imagine the trout slime and water that will get into the pivot and corrode the M4. With the VG-10 of the Delica, a rinse in the river and good blow out seemed to do the trick. I need something easy to clean and I thought a frame lock was the ticket. The Southard is a possibility maybe, but looks pretty thick.

I guess the Delica just really did everything I wanted. It's still going strong after years of abuse: I scrub it down with soap and water every few months and it looks and acts new. I know it's supposed to be 'delicate' and maybe my version of 'hard use' isn't very hard use, but in my own way I put that little knife through its paces and it's not once given me issue.

I think I'll hold out for the PM3 or Sage 5 in a stainless.

Get another delica in zdp I am in similar situation as far as preferences as much as I like the bechmades (all mentioned) none slice well or as well as my delica and that all I need my knife to do. I figure I'll give the pm3 a go when it comes out but the zdp delica is next on my wish list. Don't get me wrong I wish it had an axis lock or something to make it more fun to flip but for cutting it cannot be beat

What about the Sage 2 in s30v and Ti slabs?

It's about as corrosion resistant and one needs, very ergonomic, frame lock and standoffs for easy cleaning.
On top of that, they can be had for around $110-115 if you watch the exchange for a day or two.

Nice knife

Slick no traction handles.

The traction actually isn't too bad, it's not as slippery as the stainless steel Delica. Not as grippy as G10 or FRN of course, but definitely adequate, especially with the finger grooves and jimping. It does suffer from the other big problem of metal handles, it gets really cold, really quick.

I am ZT guy. Now, I love the ZT 0560, but I am sure the ZT 0566 will treat you amazing ^.^ But, if the weight is too much, I would recommend a full size griptilian.

I'm a great fan of the Delica , and my ZDP189 Titanium handled is my favourite knife .
The closed size , and the fact that it's a lock back make it the ideal knife for me .
But I have another option if I want something a bit different in the form of a Caly 3.5 that I have altered to fit my requirements .
I call it my Delica 3.5
It is a substantial bigger blade , but when closed it is only fractionally longer than my Delica .
Maybe the Caly is worth looking at ?

I don't have a picture of them side by side closed , but there is very little difference in length or carry friendliness .

Have you looked at the Centofante 3? 3" vg10 blade made of thin stock.

Or the Centofante Memory? Much dresser and within this price range. Very nice piece

I got the Gemini in and it's very nice. Great action and decently thin at the edge. I don't see it replacing my Mantra 2 but it may be a keeper.

I appreciate all the suggestions! Honestly, it was all great!

I ended up with a brand I had never heard of, which is of course what makes this forum so great. I bought an Enzo Birk 75, FFG S30V. It's...perfect for me. I've bought knives in the past that once I received, I knew it wasn't for me. Opposite experience with this Birk 75.

I was initially worried about the polished G10 and how the light glared off it in most of the photos I saw. But the reviews I read said it was much better in hand. It is. The polished G10 is of course smooth but I have no issue with slipping after using it in the rain with wet cold hands. Also no jimping. The scales, should I want to, are easily replaced. They make a green micarta for the scandi-grind version -- I'll copy a set and make my own.

Clip is deep carry and drilled only for right hand tip up which is my preference. Hate to say it for those who prefer otherwise, but I love that there aren't holes all over the knife. Again, clean and simple.

I thought the hidden pivot was odd, but so far I like the clean look. No adjustment necessary as of yet, but don't foresee a problem with this.

The build is awesome. Not a single complaint. I've heard that they're built in the same factory Spyderco uses. I can't confirm this, but wouldn't be surprised.

The blade is thicker than my Delica. While noticeable in use while slicing, it's still an awesome slicer for what I need it to do, and I like the heft of the thicker blade.

The lock up is solid without blade play anywhere. This one is easy to unlock, and I'm liking the scales on both sides as opposed to a frame lock. I understand that this is the second revision of the model and that the first had issues with some people unlocking. I don't know if anything has changed, but I don't have any issue at all unlocking.

My wife (from the Baltics) calls its styling 'classic' and that it reminds her of the knives she saw growing up. It was neat to tell her that it is in fact a classic Finnish design. Not her people, but similar cultures. Easily her favorite of the ZTs, BMs, and Spydies I own.

I think I agree with her.
