Sometmes the older designs are best

I have one of each and love them both. Partial to the 1911 though, a little more comfortable to grip.

Older deisgns!!!

I thought this thread was going to be about wheelock pistols, or some such!

You coud at least bring up Single Action revolvers!

OK, I guess i just did.

:D

Nothing feels better in the hand than the venerable single action revolver. I have one almost finished, basically a US Firearms collection of parts but MFG by Turnbull Restoration.

NO, I didn't have time to engrave it...

If only it was legal here ...

Guess I will have to be happy with the memories of a Series 70 Govt Model, Series 80 Combat Govt Model, and best of all, 1942 Remington-Rand 191A1 which feed handloaded hard cast lead projectiles without malfunction for the hundreds of matches I fired during the ten years I owned it. :)

Munchi, you have the sympathies of all here!
I've owned a half dozen 1911's, from suplus rattle-bangers to tightly-fitted target guns. My only .45 auto at present is a Colt, pre-1970 National Match. Shoots like a dream. I need a few more. I like the .45 ACP, and load for it. I also have an S&W M25-2 and a Blackhawk Convertible in the caliber, so I need lots of ca'tiges!
I owned a BHP for several years back in the '60s. It was a pre-WWII FN, with the great serial number of xx007! I bought it from the long extinct Gold Rush Gun Shop in LA, back when you could mail order such toys. As I recall, the price was $79.95 plus $10 shipping. I loved the 13+1 magazine capacity, and it was easy to do a simple trigger job, and install a trigger stop and remove the magazine safety and stipple the front/back straps. I turned that nice Browning into a collector's nightmare! But it shot well, even with the tiny pre-war sights. A good friend needed a defense pistol, and it was all I could spare. Then it was stolen, found in a horse stall with hoof scars all over it, reblued...I just gave the guy the gun, and never got another. I'd like to have another pre-war HP, but I think I'd have to shell out a bit more than $90 for it!

My buddy has a occupation production one he got from his father-in law. Nice gun.

I like my .45's in the single action variety. I love big, semi wadcutter lead bullets galloping downrange.
