My son has finally made it here! I can't afford a custom to celebrate his birth but figured a hard working folder might be the right way to go. Money is tight but I want to scrounge to get something nice.

So do I get him a Tuff (I love cpm 3v) or a Gayle Bradley (I've always wanted to try out M4)

What say you. His name is Torin :)

Congrats. Tuff Torin has a ring to it but GB is more useful overall and plenty tough.

Depends on whether you think he'll turn out to be a gentleman or a roughneck. Buy both; if he turns out to be a gentleman, give him the Tuff...just to mess with his head a little and make him question his identity. In a reverse situation, give him the GB and do the same. As parents, it is our collective responsibility to mess with our kids. By the way...I should probably state that I have no children, which is probably a good thing ;) .

I'd get him the Babybug :D. Save the Bradley for when he has better control of his limbs.

Either is a great choice. I love both my Gayle Bradley and my Tuff. As RamZar said the GB is probably more useful. In my experience 3V is slightly more corrosion resistant than M4, but with minimal care (wipe blade after use and oil every now and then) both will last you and your sons lifetime and probably several generations after that. Oh and congratulations.

I say GB but it's by far my favorite spyderco. Plus it would go great with a GB Air for high school graduation.

I would get him one of those Dragonfly wooden kits (WDKIT1) as it would be an excellent father-son learning experience. You could also get him a real Dragonfly 2 or any other Spydie to use when he is old enough, but by the time that comes there would be likely new models that you or he might desire more.

Congrats on being a Dad.

I love my GB, but the Tuff is up there on my list of must buys. I would think the GB to be a more sensible purchase considering he will likely not use it for years. I really like the name you chose as well!

Congratulations! May your first child be a masculine child! Lol, but yea, I say get the GB. I love M4 and prefer it's aesthetics over the Tuff (which is good looking too imo, despite many disliking it). Also, the Tuff is gust too darn big for me.
I carry my firearm, spare mag, usually a light, and my wallet, phone etc on a daily basis. It's just too much to wear anything bigger than the GB or Manix imo. My Manix XL is pretty much where I top out (usually). Then again, much of it is because I carry my knife in my front pockets, not rear, so I'm limited with pocket "real estate", so to speak.
