Son is born! Gayle Bradley or Tuff?

Thanks guys. I'm still torn :)

ShepardCC that is one fantastic looking Tuff! Did you do that?

Congratulations TLR! I've owned a GB but not a Tuff. They both seem like great knives. In this case it's the thought/memory that counts so I'd just stare at both for a few minutes and make the gut decision.

I just had the same experience as you, TLR. My boy was born in the 15th. His name is Anthony. Been trying to decide between the GB or Stretch ZDP-189.

Have you given any thought to getting his name etched / engraved on it, whichever you choose?

I think that would be a cool thing to do, since it's not likely you're going to resell it, since it's a gift and all.
And I think it's pretty cheap to do, like an extra $10 or something from some dealers.

I'm thinking about doing that for my son's knife, but I'm waiting until he's a little older (he's currently 1yo) before I commit to a knife for him.
Who knows what other awesome Spyderco knives will be out 5 years from now??

↑↑this. I made my son a knife when he was 3 months old and I engraved his initials into it. I have one as well, kinda a father son knife. Look at some custom makers here to do you one. Imo its better than a production knife that thousands already have. Give him a one off piece.

I broke down and got a Tuff. A Tuff for Torin is just to fitting :)

I've already begun my own journey into knifemaking. When he's old enough he and I will make him a custom fixed blade.

Couldn't have gone wrong either way. Now get one for yourself as a heavy user, and get a GB too for that lovely M4 and you can call it a day.

Thank you Sal!

And thank you to every one who weighed in on this. The Gayle Bradley is still up there on my short list of knives to purchase.

The Tuff came in and I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am by it. All the knives I have made to this point have been out of 3V and I love it as a steel. This is a great platform for it to shine in a folding knife.
