Today was opening day of youth season my 13yo son killed his first deer. This is him posing with my dad who was the guide and Im not sure who was more excited. Not shown in the BK14 used for removal of certain parts of the deer.

Send me some tender loin. :p Congrats to the hunter and his guide.

what did he use on that trip? (rifle, asking every hunter I know to use as a reference point)
Other than that, give him a pat on the back from me.

Congrats dude !!! I just got my late birthday present/early Christmas present. Been wanting one for a long time. Don't think me or my kids will ever have to buy another one.

A Gander Mt. 3/4 hp High Capacity #12 meat grinder w/2 sizes of grates & 3 sizes of sausage/jerky stuffing tubes. Bring on the deer ! LOL

He used a Savage Axis .243 a cheap made in USA rifle under $300 that with good glass has been shooting 1.5 inch groups he shot it at 65 yards broadside got both lungs missed the shoulder and it dropped in it's tracks. He said should I shoot again? Nope it's dead.

good for him!
and nothing wrong with the Savage rifles -- great value in a plain package.
hmmm sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Congrats on his first of hopefully many to come. Best shooting bolt gun I own is a Savage .243, makes one ragged hole at 100 yds with 55 grain noslers. The rifle is bone stock, and one heck of a shooter. It's the Becker of the gun world.
