And compliment back at you Driften in regards to your CASE select "nut"...Very nice blue by Case:thumbup:

I had a CASE Clip/Wharncliffe Copperhead in WONDERFUL blue but as many knives I sold it sometime back. I don't claim to be the sharpest knife in the drawer:o:)

Thanks Paul... guess I got lucky with that one. Ya just never know what's gonna happen when messin around dying bone.
That Workhorse sure doesn't need a touch up, great color just the way it is. Looks like you caught a bit of the sunrise in this shot. Real nice knife and pic, -James-

Good eye on on the sunset James, that's exactly it. I usually shield the sun to get the best picture but the blue really popped at this angle:thumbup:

Today my stone wash blue #14 came in. Its a hefty knife for being so small. It has a very solid feeling about it.

My first knife. I got it in the late 50's when I was 7 or 8 years old. Little did I know it would be the first of many!!

Thanks Driften. Yes, repeated coverings of black leather dye. Wiped away after just a few seconds until it was darkened to the degree I wanted. Then a 2 hour tea soak. I think it is a vast improvement on the original shade...

(which closely resembled this pic I borrowed from the web).
Sparrow, what kind of leather dye - alcohol based or oil based?
And what do you mean by a "tea soak"?
It looks really nice, BTW.

I got a #25 in blue camel bone today and I am very happy with it. I love the smooth blue bone. Its a great pattern and the depth and color is very cool. It could have a more blue but its much better in hand then in my pictures. I think its my favorite blue so far.

A pair of blues for my carry today. The Tango is new to me; arrived in today's mail call. I've been hunting for one ever since ~P first posted hers. (That's right Sarah, this is your fault.)

Great picture Ken!

I like that Tango, and the 79 too - it's a pattern I've not been able to sample - yours is a beauty

Buck made some blue bone model 312 trappers. Out of production but still can be found. 300

I'm a big fan of Blue Knives. Here for your consideration are some Schrades that Herman Williams re-handled for me in Blue Bone.

Very nice collection of blues there, DW. How much does it cost, approximately, to have a knife re-handled like that?

NC, that is a tough question to answer, there are too many variables. Herman mainly works on Schrade knives. As you may or may not know, he was Schrades in house customizer for 24 years. Other than the knives he posts on Ebay he is pretty much retired. His Ebay handle is electra_225 You could contact him thru one of his listings using the "ask a question" link.

This is one of the few times I don't mind being blamed. ;) As you may have seen, I refer to mine as my Tacky Tango®. I like it very much!

Those blue Workhorses are mighty fine, in pattern and appointment. Speaking of which...
14 Stonewashed Blue. Color really pops on the edge.

I love the Stonewash Blue, at least, what I can see of the blue?

Has anyone considered, or tried, lightly buffing the covers to see if more of the blue might become visible throughout?

Should the #14s appear with clip points and more of these blue covers, I just may need to give it a go myself. That, or take the plunge on a remaining #38 Farmer's Jack. Hmmmm.

Very nice! I love how the coloration is so varied within each cover, and from knife to knife, due to the camel bone's inconsistent density.

Last week brought me an incredible surprise, and deep (if brief) bafflement-- and it turns out, this thread was partly responsible for inspiring the surprise!

The story, the knife (full thread here):
Yesterday, I received notification that the USPS had attempted to deliver a package to my house, but was unable to leave it due to no one's being present to sign.

I hopped in my Jeep and started running down Mail trucks until I located the mail carrier/truck with my unexpected package.

From Germany.

Inside? One of these...

... clad in a perfect BLUE:

The striations in the blue micarta, lending a wonderful overall hue, are more subtle in most everyday lighting:

I am blown away and baffled by this incredible surprise!

This is a 'real-sized' knife (in contrast to my many wee fixed blades). I feel I should go process my, uhhh, backyard or something.

But mostly, I want to say thank you, and I have no idea to whom(!). One of you gots me good!

Wow, is this fine....

Okay, it's someone else's turn. Someone needs to SAY.

(Thank you.)

The knife again, since the above images won't appear in a quoted message in this thread otherwise:

Good blue, with depth and/or visual interest, not too purple, not too green, is actually hard to do well-- and this is among the best I've seen. That the micarta is made from blue denim explains much of why its "blue" is so successful! :)

SO VERY COOL!

Thanks again, AKC.

Carry on, bluesters near and far. :D
