I've been listening to Chris Knight on Pandora and heard the line:

"Caught a .22 bullet in the thigh one night, trying to break up a bar room fight. Went home, dug it out with my old Case knife." from the song Nothing On Me

I was wondering how many songs are out there that have a line about a pocket knife. Feel free to post up a video.

hopefully this works I had to quote your post to create an embedded youtube video...
This isn't about a pocket knife and I never see these discussed here but I think it fits the criteria

I'd also like to mention "Set Your Arms Down" by Warpaint, first album first song first line..."Out on the backporch, you stay tonight, we bring a pocket of pocket knives"
(sorry she doesn't specific if they're traditionals :))

A Boy Named Sue - Johnny Cash

"Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He come up with a GEC knife and cut off a piece of my ear.
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer."

How about My Fathers Advice by Rodney Crowe and Kris Kristofferson?

Chock full of great advice......

The Barlow knife gets a quick mention in Shady Grove, as played on the Mudcrutch album (Tom Petty's original band).

When I was a little boy
I wanted a Barlow knife
And now I want little Shady Grove
To say she'll be my wife

And Katie Dill, and Tim O'brien, and..

Shady Grove is a traditional song with many variations in verses and according to wikipedia as many as 300 verses added or subtracted by different musicians. Love it.

Cool pic Pete.

Thanks I posted that two years ago in the Barlow month thread, I no longer own that Barlow, I sent it along to a forum friend.

Not a song about a knife but a song played with a knife, 30 seconds in you get a good look

"Always keep an edge on your knife," by the Corb Lund Band

Jethro Tull mentions a jack knife barber in Cross-Eyed Mary. always seemed to be a rather shady shave, but it can be done!

Delbert McClinton's "Victim of Life's Circumstances" is one of my all-time favorite country songs.

I said, "Jailor, hey, what y'all got me charged with?"
Well he looked at me and halfway closed one eye
Well he said, "To mean to say you don't remember
Cuttin' up some honkie with that bone handled knife?"

Here's a version as done by Vince Gill:

Judge you want to hear my plea
Before you open up your court
But I don't want no sympathy
'Cause I done cut my good man's throat

I caught him with a trifling Jane
I warned him 'bout before
I had my knife and went insane
And the rest you ought to know

Judge, judge, please mister judge,
Send me to the 'lectric chair
Judge, judge, good mister judge,
Let me go away from here

I want to take a journey
To the devil down below
I done killed my man
I want to reap just what I sow

Oh judge, judge, lordy lordy judge
Send me to the 'lectric chair
Judge, judge, hear me judge
Send me to the 'lectric chair

I love him so dear
I cut him with my Barlow
I kicked him in the side
I stood here laughing o'er him
While he wallowed around and died

Oh judge, judge, lordy judge
Send me to the 'lectric chair
Judge, judge, sweet mister judge
Send me to the 'lectric chair

Judge, judge, good kind judge
Burn me 'cause I don't care
I don't want no one good mayor
To go my bail
I don't want to spend no
Ninety-nine years in jail

So judge, judge, good kind judge
Send me to the 'lectric chair

You fellas missed an oldy.

In the 1950s there was TV show "The Adventures of Jim Bowie". I remember watching it. It had a theme song...
