Song's about traditional pocket knives?

Fantastic Frank, I'd never seen that before

I've got a few 18th century Sheffield cutlers' songs to subject you folk to at some point! ;)

"Rifle in a gun rack hangin' in the back glass / Buck knife on my belt, ain't no land ... "

"cuz a good sharp edge is a man's best hedge against the vague uncertainties of life" Pretty much says it all right there!:D

"Always keep an edge on your knife," by the Corb Lund Band

This one may be too far off subject but Leroy did carry a razor in his shoe... and after the fight he looked like a puzzle with a few pieces gone....

I always got the feeling that the name Clifton Clowers was directlymade up to ryme with flowers.
Actually he was a real person. Lived on Woolverton Mountain in the State of Arkansas. Born in 1891,Died in 1994. The song was written by his Nephew, Merle Kilgore.

You fellas missed an oldy.

In the 1950s there was TV show "The Adventures of Jim Bowie". I remember watching it. It had a theme song...

I played that just to hear the song and ended up watching the whole thing. Those were different times, for sure, when the hero of a TV show could smoke, knife fight and throw his rifle at a bear. :D

This is a fantastic thread. Charlie beat me to the Barlow Song but all the other ones posted I have not heard yet. I will be following this thread :D

Song Starts at 0:58

Not traditional knife, traditional blues. Johnny had a few knife references.
