As some of you guys know, my little one lost his knife at deer camp. And despite our best efforts, it was not found. I was unable to get him a new blade by Christmas due to finances, but his b-day is this month, and he has a Silver Alox Farmer, and a copy of Jim Kjelgaard's book, "Snow Dog" in the mail. As a youngster I practically wore the cover off the library's copy of that great book, and want him to enjoy the great story of Chiri for himself.
As for the Alox Farmer, well, he is about as much of a woodsnut as his dad, and a solid SAK will do him well, and the Farmer configuration is IMHO imminently functional. And the Silver Alox is just classy too.

Time flies guys. If you have little ones, take time for them NOW, you may not get the chance later.

My son is 10 months old (yesterday) and I can't wait till he's old enough to participate, he already enjoys the outdoors. He loves riding horses and the 4 wheeler so I know when he gets older we'll get to do a lot of camping, hiking, woodsbumming, etc.

It's great to see a Dad in todays world of fathers. Good on you beckerhead.

I hear you loud and clear on that. My son just turned 10. The best part about giving him his first Orange alox Farmer was going out on Christmas morning and showing him how to use it. He is quickly becoming my best woods buddy. Time spent with him in the outdoors is something I cherish.

Congratulations on being a great dad.

That's an excellent book I read when I was about 10 yrs old.. It's one of the very few books I've read in my life.

I am real close with my ten year old nephew. I've been slipping him all kinds of SAK's and folders for the last year and he loves them. At your suggestion I just ordered the book "Snow Dog" for him. Sounds like all the other books he reads. One he really has been talking up is the "Hatchet" series, about a boy lost in the Canadian woods after a plane crashes.
I plan to give him a Vic Cadet with the book when it arrives. :D

Becker - I wish I knew - I would have MAILED you a free Alox in time for christmas - I have one extra. If something happens to it - feel free to PM me - you are more then welcome to my extra.

We only have a small window of opportunity to share the good stuff with our kids. Good for you for taking advantage of it. He'll still have that book and knife when he's an adult.

I'm sure he will treasure it. I still have my SAK Huntsman from when I was 12 - so I've had it for 26 years now. I'd like to give it to my daughter, unless she wants to start with a brand new one, of course!
