Soooo.... anyone else blow their knife budget out of the water?

I don't really have a monthly budget, I just buy what I like when I have the funds. So, it being X-mas and all, I was PLANNING on not buying anything this month, as to not strain the already limited $$. :thumbup:

So here's what I've bought this month: :o

Kabar Next Generation
Kabar Cutlass Machete
Kabar Impact Warthog
Kershaw Junkyard Dog II (off the forum)
Leatherman Kick (2 of them, Sears had them on sale for $20!)
Rehrer Custom (off the forum)
Ontario Marine Raider

That's not counting stuff I've traded for.

I did sell some odds-n-ends to pay for most of the stuff, so I guess I didn't use any "new" money, but that cash could have been used for other stuff.

The root cause of the problem is that there have been TONS of good deals everywhere this month! It's not really my fault, right?:p
 
Yeah, I wasn't planning on buying anything this month either..... Then I bought a Les George FM-1 and a Galyean Pro Series large Lahar. When it comes to knives my willpower is non existant.
 
Well I don't really have a budget to say I'm more like you I just get what I want if I can afford it but the things that have changed for me this year are I got promoted to manager a few months back and around the same time became single again so with that said so far I've bought myself a Kabar USMC fighting knife but I got the US Army version cause thats the branch of service I was in. I also got a very nice Anza knife and just placed an order this morning for a Zero Tolerance 0350 and a Kershaw Baby Boa. Next are a SOG Tomcat 3.0 & SOG Vulcan Mini. :)
 
My knife expenses are pretty high the past several weeks. These are purchases I've made or preorders that are starting to hit my credit cards or will in the next couple weeks :eek: It makes me gasp when I list them all down . . .

$264 for two Spyderco CF Lum folders
$600 for three ZT 0551's
$255 for a HEST Folder LE Sterile
$177 for a production model HEST Folder
$360 for two Spyderco CF S90V Para 2's
$107 for an Orange Cutlery Shoppe Manix 2
$50 for a Meyerco Kirby Lambert Shockwave
$30 for an Ontario RAT 1 Folder
 
Holy sheeeiiit. That makes me, well, not feel better, but at least I know the damage could have been much worse. Of course, it's only the 20th....

Jeez, I also got a $20 off $100 order from Cabela's, literally, 5 minutes ago.

Hanging out on the Becker forum is going to end up costing me some money too, eventually. I'm watching a Kabar Next Gen. in D2 right now too.
 
Knife budget? What's that? :eek:

Besides the knives and work I paid DDR and Reese for almost 2 years ago, I won't be getting any knives for a while. Actually sold off half my collection over the last 2-3 months.

It's good to start fresh sometimes - I plan to sell a small handful in the coming week or two, myself to make room for all these new offerings.

Out with the old and in with the new ;)

I recently promised myself that I would not buy any knives for a while - especially in light of the crummy economy.

Actually made it around 3 months - and as I type this I am expecting a Fed Ex package tomorrow from Knifeart.

Damn.

I hadn't really planned on buying any knives until the regular production ZT550 came out, but then the Orange Manix-2 came out so I put in an order for two of them, and then I picked up some extra hours at work and bought an American Lawman, and then I started looking around for a nice Sgian Dubh...

Whatever, I didn't have a knife budget in the first place. :P

I just find knives that I really like, wait until I have enough spare cash to buy them, and then do it. :D

I never tried that but I'm up for something new, especially if it will help me get more knives!

Nope. I don't live above my means.

I bought one custom that was 75 bucks. Can't wait to get it. It's a Dirk Pinkerton BroadHead. Mine will be double ground and not chisel, in s30v.

Hehe heh - no but I am going to sell a few knives I didn't think I'd sell ;) My taste is changing a little and some of the new knives recently are just too compelling to avoid :D

I hear you - and I'm not too far behind that amount with the one I have coming.

Once I get my targets set on something I have a hard time turning away until the itch is scratched.
