This is my “Soothsayer” model. This slightly modified kiridashi design makes an outstanding EDC/Utility or defensive knife. If you have never tried a kiridashi, you are missing out on one of the most useful knife designs around.
The blade is differentially heat treated 1095. I performed all heat treat and tempering operations. The hamon is visible and compliments the finish of the knife. The blade was taken to 1200 grit, and then etched to reveal the hamon. Afterwards, my “Rorschach” finish was applied.
As you can see, this knife has an extremely unique finish. This particular knife incorporates my "Rorschach" finish. I feel that this is an appropriate name, as everyone I show it to seems to see different things in the random pattern on the blade.
I call this particular variation the "Spatter" pattern, as it resembles random blood spatter. This design is cut into the steel, and will not come off unless it is ground off. This finish is completely unique for each blade.
The handle is exceptionally comfortable in either standard or reverse grip. The wrap is nylon and is impregnated with epoxy to prevent unraveling or moisture retention. The under wrap is a choice piece of black sting ray skin. The menuki is a large bat.
The knife is ground with a chisel hollow grind for a right hand user. I have also ground a swedge along the spine that greatly aids penetration. The knife is extremely sharp, as the edge was also mirror polished. It is extremely sharp! Excellent edge geometry. This will make someone a very nice carry blade.
- Differentially heat treated 1095
- 60 - 61 HRC
- 1/8 Stock
- Hamon and Rorschach Finish
- Hollow Chisel Grind (Right Hand)
- Phenomenally Sharp
- 7.25" OAL, Cutting edge of about 2.75"
- Extremely Secure Kydex sheath

Thanks for looking!
This blade is mirror polished, so it was very difficult to photograph. I tried to include a few extra photographs to highlight the “Rorschach” finish.
