i had to buy the RTAK instead of the junglas due to price difference. i dont even like ontario knives. i believe they use shady business practice and have a low quality product. i owned one of their knives before and while i was new to sharpening, it didnt seem to hold an edge well. the sheathe was total garbage... it wouldnt hold the knife for anything... i had to tie my knife on with a knot when done using it. while this doesnt mean the knife isnt dependable it does speak about the quality of the product they sell as a unit. i remember their machetes had a big shattering problem... (highly unprofessional to be releasing so many knives when you dont even know wtf youre doing with a heat treat) after the rat-5 fiasco i bought an rc-3 and was very happy with the knife. though the sheath is pretty unimpressive and annoying at times... (not enough retention and low quality belt loop design. the string wouldnt even hold in my lashing position i had to tie it every which way through the holes and then sew the strings together to make sure it stays tight. i dont like how a company who likes to shaft their customers (ontario) tries to snuff out a smaller company who supplies better product... thats wrong and they can kiss my arse. so i really hate to be forced to go back to them but it seems like rat cutlery is slacking... i noticed you guys got rid of the stainless steel rivets. i assume its to cut down production costs (step 1 in becoming like ontario) so if this is your business model changing before my eyes i advise you against it you will lose me and probably other customers and respect. so basically i wish i didnt have to buy their knives because they are not respectable and i hope you dont follow the same path because quality product is rare in american economy...

I am not going to respond to a lot of that, but ESEE will NEVER put their names on something that they do not believe is quality. None of their knives are low quality, and nothing to do with them is. Some of the things they put out may not be right for everyone, but nothing they put out is low quality.

What stainless rivets? Looking at my rc-3 and molle back right now and not seeing any stainless rivets anywhere, what am I missing?

The rest of your statement seems fairly unfounded to me, but everyone deserves and opinion I'm just not seeing that one. Seems like you don't like having to pay more for a better made product, ESEE knives have always sold for more than Ontario versions, so thats not new, guess I'm just missing your point.

So ur not going to support a company that is in your mind going in the direction like ontario but went out and bought a Ontario knife... Maybe u'll come to your senses later when ur sober..

I feel this thread will be locked as soon as a mod reads it. While it fine that you do not like a particular knife company, the people on this forum do not slam other companies. You have every right to buy what you want and if you disagree with another company's ethics or policies, then do not look at or purchase their products.

That being said, you will find that ESEE only offers quality gear and has the best warranty in the industry. Maybe you have to pay a little more but look at what you get. If you do not like the price then shop elsewhere and accept whatever you get.

i would have to agree, and ESEE will not put their name on an inferior product, they aren't out to make money, they arent competing with anybody, they just want to bring the best products for the best prices aimed towards the working man or woman.

What the hell is the point of your post? You ramble on and on, bitch endlessly, and make no point. If you're not trolling, post a photo of your RTAK on today's newspaper.

So let me get this straight....You don't like Ontario knives, for blade/sheath performance and customer service issues(or lack there of). So you purchased an ESEE 3 like the knife not happy with the sheath. Did you contact ESEE customer service about it? If you check other posts there are some that say the sheath for the ESEE 3 has too much retention that will break in with use or minor modification. So simply based on price you went back to Ontario and purchased a possibly lesser quality blade, with poorer fit and finish, poor customer service and support that which you are claiming ESEE to be heading towards. In having the RAT 3 and 5, and now the RC 5 and Izula IMO there is no comparison as to over all fit and finish and quality of the blades and sheaths and warranty that is simply no questions asked. I'm just having a hard time finding any logic in your post.

Ditto on crawling back under the bridge.

With all due respect kkj87a, would you mind being a little more specific with the details of your grievance? I got a little confused by what you were trying to say the exact problem is/was with your RC3, and how does it relates to Ontario's product?

(strictly my opinion but) going from a company with high ethical, engineering and manufacturing standards to one that, as you yourself stated to be, "substandard" (<- my term) is quite perplexing and one might venture to say hypocritical (I'm not accusing).

So ultimately, what is the exact issue that's causing you current point of view?

This sounds like a common troll we have here guys. Bitches and complains trying to make it sound like a legit complaint. Keeps trying the same crap to get a free knife. The problem is the obvious grammar problems smoke him out right away. Usually uses handles with less posts, but uses multiple names and ip addresses. If you notice, he usually brings up issues in very recent threads. The rtak vs junglas, and some people not liking the rc3 sheath are recent issues from valid dicussions. But here, the issues are warped with a "I want free stuff" bend. He tries to personally address the company to apply guilt/shame to get his desired result. Same old troll tactic, which stinks for the rest of us. Don't buy into it guys.

Hopefully this kid just saves enough from his paper route to get one of his own

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion but surely, this is probably not the best place to express this one in particular. You're talking to die hard fans here that know that the extra money their spending for a ESEE products is worthwhile in their eyes. If you don't like it, fine but don't try to bring ESEE down just because you feel bad you bought an Ontario RAT knife eventhough you knew they were not the same quality.

Live with your choices bud :)

For some reason I read that whole poorly written block of text. I want those 2 minutes of my life back.
