Title says it all. Not that I don't carry a Peanut, because I do. But sometimes you just have to have a larger knife.
Sorry Invoice, but I already have one! Na na na na naaa!
Thanks to Dan, and his extremely generous gift of what I believe to be a modded Northwoods, I have been carrying a 4 inch stockman since he gifted it to me at the Hagerstown show. It's a tad under 3 ounces, and while it's heavier than I usually carry, it's only an ounce more than a number 8 Opinel, or a Victorinox recruit, or my beloved peanut.
You don't need to convince me of the utility of the stockman, since it was "MY" knife all through the 70's and 80's, and well into the 90's. That was my 'before knife knut' era. Once in a while I'd try other patterns, but always went back to my old Buck 301. That knife did everything for me that I needed from knife. Now I'm back where I started, almost. I will always love the peanut because of family history, but I'm just no longer able to deal with them on a 'bad' day. But I think the 4 inch size and 3 ounce weight is my upper limit for a pocket knife. I do love having the sheep foot blade available again!
