I have a number of axe's that I need to really thin out the profile on, so I need some belts for taking off lots of hardened steel. Best and coarsest belts I can find are 60 grit Norton Blaze, and 80 grit 3M Cubitron II. These work, but I'd sure like the jobs to go faster than they are.

i tried them but my style of grinding does not break down the grit. they need speed and force to really get the max out of them
BTW 2nd plug for superrgrit and if you dont see it on the site call them they have alot of stuff not listed (im spoiled cause i live close and stop in myself to grab belts)

Since my goal here is to think out the profile on old axes i'm restoring, My thought was to get the fastest cutting coarsest grit belts and use the slack portion to grind. Would a smarter idea be to use the platten with to hog off most of the material with some 36-grit AlOx belts I have, then clean them up in the slack area? As you may have gathered I'm very green at these things.
