It's difficult to find 52100 stock. If you have got a roller bearing plant not too far away from you, you may ask them how and where they do get their materials. The balls are always made from round stock bars. Flat stock is nearlyimpossible to get.
Normally it is far easier (and cheaper) to work with used roller bearings than to get some stock (works only for the forging guys).
I purchased several hundred pounds from them last year. Don't know if this will help you in the USA, but the steel is inexpensive, the Dollar is very strong and ships sail back and forth all the time.
In Blade magazine a couple months ago Ed Fowler gave the address of a place in CA that was offering forged 52100 bar stock. If I can find the article I will post the name and address.

It's only a mistake if you fail to learn from it!
Hello, I'm the guy Ed Fowler wrote about. I'm in Pa, not Ca.
I have a 20 ton pneumatic hammer and can forge 6" dia bar stock to any size you want at no extra cost. HUGE mechanical reduction = extremely fine grain size. No minimum order.
Cost is very low and surface grinding is avalible.
Email me if interested .
Thanks
Rex
I have about 3 feet of round bar avadable if you want it I will take 10.00 to cover the shipping ,it came from a rolerberring place a friend of mine worked at
