I buy the majority of my micarta and G10 from masecraft, but their green micarta is OD. Who has a more forest green micarta in .25"?

The place that the late Bob Loveless bought his Micarta is Called, Angus Campbell and they are in Los Angeles. I use to get the Green you are after but haven't been down there in over a decade cause the Formaldehyde it releases gives me mean headaches even with a respirator. Start there!

John, have you tried buffing the OD stuff? This is canvas buffed with gray compound, IIRC.IMG_0348.jpg

Kuraki, I have had the same experience. I have only used green Micarta twice and gave up because I worked so hard on the blades and guards and was disappointed with the Micarta...looked like drab to me and I don't love that military look on a fine knife. I will try some new sources but I thought Micarta was an exclusive product of Westinghouse and didn't know there were different colors called green Micarta. I will certainly look into this. Please let me know if you find some dark green that is a touch more elegant than the washed out green that I have been disappointed in. I only use Micarta on hard use knives with Corby bolts and steel bolsters for hard use guys. Thanks for the inquiry and thanks to the posters for some leads to better Micarta. Larry

Let us know what you find out about those two sources. I like the OD green that I've gotten from Pop's, but it's probably the same that you're talking about.
Have you tried Shadetree Phenolics?

I do not know whether it's good for you, but within the EU has a lot of different sources

Here you have a fairly good price 11,8''x 11,8''

jdm61 jdm61 I have, it's just not quite the color I'm looking for. Here is an example from David Sharp:

LARRYZ10 LARRYZ10 I've put an inquiry in to Angus-Campbell on maroon, green and black canvas micarta. I'll let you know what they say. Since they seem to be an industrial supplier I may have to buy a large batch and split it up.

Robert Erickson Robert Erickson I've not tried anything from Shadetree to this point. I hadn't really considered them because I only associate them with burlap in my head though I know that's not all they do.

If you end up buying a big pile of it, I might be interested in a few square feet of the green. Black and Tan are easy enough to get from industrial sources up here, but I have yet to see green avalible. Last time I ordered it from a knifemaking supplier it came to $50 for 3 knives worth, so I'll never do that again....

If the price is right and shipping isn't too painful, I might go for more than a few square feet....

Thanks guys I'll check both.
John,
lmk if you would like me to goto Angus Cambpell, it's kind of on the way home on my new job commute...

I'm no a huge fan of micarta but clearly it has some benefits and advantages in a knife handle. In my collection was this Loveless Caper Finn by Marcus Lin, who sold me on going with the maroon micarta

Thanks H, that's exactly the maroon I'm after as well.

sheffield knife supply. but no matter where i get it from, it will change color and darken slightly over time.

It all darkens as its exposed to air, hand dirt, oil etc! Ask at USA Knife maker as well. They may have some?

Finding the exzact stuff from 20-30 years ago is going to be a challenge! But its out there!

AKS has forest green G-10. Its darker than you are looking for though. I have a Bowie block of the forest green waiting for the right project.

My experience has been that much of the newer OD canvas micarta will end up looking like John April's last knife he posted above. Not really OD, and pretty attractive. I've used a fair amount of it, and have some now...
However the real brighter green micarta that was on Loveless knives is indeed more desirable and as far as I can tell, not available anywhere now.
I've used it on a knife back in 2007, which was the last time I recall seeing it for sale (Jantz Supply as I recall) and I've been looking for more since.
If you find some, let me know, I'll buy some too!

Sheffield's website was down for some time. I checked today and they don't even have any micarta on it? Angus-Campbell never answered my email inquires so I'm going to give them a call.
