I need some small nickle silver tacks to modify a handle to create a look similar to that of the Bagwell coffin handle bowies. Would really appreciate any leads. Thanks in advance.

I've never seen NS tacks. Whats wrong with Sterling? You can make those yourself.

Most of the tacks i have seen for black powder guns are too big for knives. I have been thnking about combining the Bagwell and Moran styles and doing a simple silver wire inlay around the border of a handle.

They are also very easy to make. Grind a small "V" in the jaw of a lineman's pliers. Make it just deep enough to hold a piece of nickel silver wire of the size desired. Grip the wire (whole length) in the pliers and either peen it into a head, or use a head spinner chucked in a hand drill. Clip the "nail" at the bottom of the pliers and repeat. It only takes a few seconds to make a small decorative nail. Of course, anneal the wire if it was not purchased annealed.
